Lifetime PS3 Sales Only 1.3 Million Away From Catching Xbox 360

Sony has recently announced that it has shipped 3.7 million PS3’s in Q2 of this fiscal year which is a full 1.4 million more than the Xbox 360. This brings the total PS3’s to 56 million where as the Xbox 360 is 57.3 million units shipped.

The bad news is Sony listed a 350 million dollar loss for the entire company while MS posted a profit in its game division.

In other news the PS2 sold a surprising 4.3 million units so far this year. This system will not die.

Yup, Sony PS3 sales are up, but profit is down. Weird? Not entirely, giving the hardware development costs, Sony will increase their profits next year, but will probably sell less PS3 units lol

That’s U$ 350 million for the entire company, however, Sony was hit terribly by the earthquake in Japan, so that’s something. At the same time, Nintendo lost a U$ 1 billion and was also affected by it. MS had no problems of the kind.

I wonder what is the figure exclusively for Sony’s gaming division. Anyway, it seems like Americans may be buying more PS3s since that’s the only place Xbos sells more.

I think the PS2’s high sales still are in part because the PS3 doesn’t have backwards compatibility now. You almost have to repeatedly buy two systems to be able to play your current library.

Really good news. Now them fanboys can’t say oh 360 sold more in the end I think PS3 will beat 360 before the new line of consoles.

I honestly don’t think that has anything to do with it.
