Dead Island Patch Detailed |

Dead Island consoles fans will receive a patch on Nov. 9th and 10th on PS3 and Xbox 360 respectively. The Patch will fix bugs, raise level cap and change XP rewards. Developer Techland have mentioned that the Bloodbath arena DLC will remain on hold till the fixes are rolled out.

The full list of fixes after the jump:

– Level cap raised to 60
– New blueprints for weapon mods added
– Infected damage reduced
– Infected no longer interrupt player attacks
– A series of improvements to subsequent playthroughs implemented
– quest XP rewards adjusted
– XP rewards for challenges adjusted
– in subsequent playthroughs XP is awarded for all quests completed in co-op
– Purna’s ammo carrying capacity increased by 50%
– Character state from a save game can now be loaded when using the Start from Chapter option
– New balancing option added: enemy levels can now be adjusted independently for each co-op player
– Players respawn with more health
– Picklock skill level required to open a lock is now clearly indicated
– Improved rewards in weapon crates
– All weapon crates now contain rewards
– Kick ability balanced, now requires stamina
– Items can now be picked up instantly; this is reflected in adjusted animations
– Fix: players are no longer left without a weapon after dropping the equipped item and healing with a medkit.
– Fix: equipped items no longer swap mysteriously after drinking an energy drink
– Tweak: healing with medkits from inventory works better, makes smarter choices of medkits
– Fix: loot from dead enemies is now always identical for all co-op players
– Fix: Purna no longer finishes her Fury with fists equipped
– Fix: map tracking after death
– Fix: zone info in the quarantine zone (City of Moresby)
– Tweak: respawn point selection is now smarter
– Improved stability and network performance in co-op
– Quest and reward fixes implemented

  • I’ve been playing Dead Island for a couple weeks now, I can’t say I’ve experienced or even noticed all those issues, but it sure is great they’re being addressed.

    It’s a shame they’re fixing kicking, that was a real life saver, but they’re also nerfing those damned infested, which should be of some help.

    One of the best things about this is the level cap raise and new mods, that kind of of post release service is really commendable.

  • I wish they would mention if they are going to fix corrupted save data. I know someone who had there level 49 and 50 characters that went corrupted. :/ I hope they fix that.

  • Glad I saw this and haven’t played Dead Island yet. I couldn’t bear it if a save file corrupted on me. Glad to know that the company is actually trying to fix crap. At least I can finally use my Pre-order code card I got from Gamestop

  • @Pedro: Kicking definitely changes everything. I played Dead Island at my cousin’s place for 2 hours and kicking was indeed a life saver on more than one occasion. I’ll buy it next year. Maybe by then there’s lots of DLC available as well.

    So it DID fix the save problem…thank God

  • O btw if anyone has an Unused Pre-Order Card for PS3 on this, I’d love to switch it w/ my Xbox one. I know this is PS3 blog but hey can’t hurt askin

  • So, I’ve just finished Dead Island yesterday and honestly didn’t think it was all that great.

    There are now a couple glitches I had never experience that proved to be quite annoying, for example, weapon unequipping when I use a medkit directly from inventory, sometimes happens with fruits as well, weapons thrown by enemies can’t be picked up, infected still do a lot of damage regardless since they spawn with weapons nearly all the time, when you throw a weapon and pick it up it doesn’t properly reequips it to the R2 menu, you can’t replace weapons by holding square anymore (new weapons, thrown weapons still work).

    Basically that, which is kind of a bummer since I had 0 complaints about the game before that. I appreciated the fix to weapon chests and kicking is definitely less cheesy now. Can’t really comment on new blue-prints, experience xp or level cap raise because I hadn’t seen it all the way yet.
