Hello fellas, Today we are going to give you an update on 2K Games latest shooter, Spec Ops: The Line. “But Cheeto, haven’t we had enough shooters already?” Yes we did boys, but have we played a tactical Squad-based third-person military shooter that challenges our morality to make life saving decisions while surviving epic sandstorms in the ruined city of Dubai? Yeah, didn’t think so!
Spec Ops: The Line is inspired by Joseph Conrad’s novella Heart of Darkness. The game is developed by Yager Development and published by 2K Games. It was officially announced at Spike Video Game Awards on December 12, 2009. A demo was shown to audience in E3 2010 and the official trailer shown below was released yesterday by 2K Games with no explanations on why the giant advertisement screens survived the face-melting sandstorms?, or why is commander Shepard from Mass Effect playing the main character? (He does look like commander Shepard right?)
So whats the story about? Glad you asked. You will take on the role of captain Martin Walker (Voiced by Nolan North, got you interested ha?) and his elite Delta Force bravo team on their journey to find a lost founding member of Delta Force and his squad, whom refused to leave the city of Dubai after the majority of it was buried by catastrophic sandstorms, only to protect the citizens and help them evacuate. While the story is some what predictable, there are a few turns and twists to keep you entertained. The dynamic changing terrain during gameplay will also offer a different experience that will effect the way you interact with the environment.
Funny fact: “the game was banned in United Arab Emirates Because it paints a future Dubai in decline or after a catastrophic disaster”. While the previous installments in the series were some what disappointing, “The Line” offers a fresh take on the series, a dynamic multiplayer and a strong cooperative gameplay all in one promising package. While writing this post a story montage and an action montage videos were uploaded by different sites. Check them out below …
Spec Ops: The Line is scheduled for release on April 1st 2012. For more information, visit the official website.
