How to Redeem Your Free Copy of Battlefield 1943 | PS3Blog.net

Following the lawsuit against EA, the company finally decided to fulfill their promise and hand out vouchers for free copies of Battlefield 1943 for those who purchased Battlefield 3 on the PS3.

More after the Jump …

There have been a misunderstanding around Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield 3, to address this we are making Battlefield 1943 available free of charge to owners of Battlefield 3 on the PS3 beginning this month … EA

This is how it works:

1- Activate your Battlefield 3 Online Pass for the PlayStation 3 using the voucher included in the game. (if you already done that, skip to step 2)

2- You need to go to this website after the dates given below:

November 26th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation®Network Sony Europe
December 10th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation®Network Sony America
December 17th, 2011 for Battlefield 3 players on PlayStation®Network Sony Asia and Sony Japan

3- Log in with your Origin ID and password.

4- Select your territory. Note vouchers do not work across regions.

5 – You will receive a PlayStation 3 voucher for Battlefield 1943.

6- Input your voucher into the PlayStation Network store.

7 – Download Battlefield 1943.

Voilà, Enjoy your free copy of Battlefield 1943!

  1. I’ll certainly redeem my code, but I don’t know if I’ll ever actually download it.

  2. I’ll be grabbing a copy but don’t know if I’ll actually play it to death like I do with BF3.

Don’t know why people made a hoo haa out of this freebie – which they may just not get time to play.

  3. @Pedro: Why wouldn’t you? It’s a free game!

  4. I think its great that gamers actually stood up to big cooperate typhoon like EA and demanded whats rightfully ours. Going back to the actual game, I am not sure people who purchased BF3 will be interested in BF 1943, but again like EdEN said, its a free game!

  5. I just don’t know when I’ll have the time to play another game, one that I’m not even that much interested in ;p

I’ll redeem the code, since it’s free, but playing the game will depend on weather or not i have the time and will to do it.

free second game is almost enough to get me to buy Battlefield.. almost but not quite.

  7. What will be interesting is to see for how long they’ll honor this deal. What if I buy Battlefield next year for $20 when they release a GOTY or what not. MY guess is that it’s tied to the online pass and its expiration date.

    anyone have a spare BF1943 code? :3

  9. Awesome that EA decided to give everyone 1943, but doesn’t almost everyone have it already? If i remember correctly it’s not the first time it was given away as a bonus

  10. wolfkin

MY guess is that it’s tied to the online pass and its expiration date.

And that’s why Free Stuff via Vouchers isn’t free stuff. Especially when there’s no reason not to just put it on the disc. Like triple copy movies. I bought Scott Pilgrim and i expected BR, DVD, and Digital copy.. why not put the digital copy on the BR disc or the DVD or something. Nope I gotta voucher it. There’s a time and a place for vouchers.. “free with purchase” stuff ain’t it.

  11. @Wolfkin: Yeah, my digital copy of Matrix had already expired…

  12. some digital copies do come on a seperate disk but you are right all of them should and there no reason for expiration dates. otherwise glad to see EA honouring the deal they made with bg1943

  13. I’ve been meaning to due a Gamestop pre-order card run lately. I got a bunch on the list to look for 😀 Saints Row 3, Halo Anneversary, UMVC3, Dead Island (ps3 version) AND Battlefield 3 now 😛 I love it when people leave there unused order cards! If only I could get better by Wednesday so I’d be tip top shape

  14. and ive redeemed my american code almost forgot about this
