Free Points Saturday | November 19th

Saturday once again! This time, I am doing this a bit earlier for those who may not be able to get onto our site later at night (such as for our fans across the pond). I tried to make this one something to search for as opposed to some trivia. Just follow the clues! Once again, the first 10 people get 150 points!

A good place to start for information
Hint 1: Search the “Community Info” page
Hint 2: Check the Calendar
Hint 3: Visit the Store Tab
Hint 4: “Be sure to read our first review!”

This is a scavenger hunt, so you’ll need to go to the correct places to find the next clue! The answer is one word.

Ni No Kuni Magical Edition Bundle

Alright, so Japanese gamers were treated yesterday with the latest RPG from Level-5 and Studio Ghibli, Ni No Kuni. Namco Bandai will publish the north America English version of the game, which was confirmed earlier for an early 2012 release, exclusively on the PS3.
The Japanese exclusive “Magical Bundle” of Ni No Kuni was released yesterday with a 160GB PS3 in cream-white and gold, a matching Dualshock 3 controller, a copy of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and surprisingly , just like the DS version, a fantastic looking spell book.

Metal Gear Solid 5 Officially Confirmed, Details Soon

If you read our QuickNews post yesterday, you would know about the shuffling of producers that the spin-off Metal Gear Solid title, Rising, is going through, leaving some of us with a questionable view of said title now.

But don’t fret! Hideo Kojima has said to expect details for both Rising, and the newly confirmed Metal Gear Solid 5, possibly as early as the end of the month. No official word on whether or not Kojima-san will be producing MGS5, as he previously said he was done with Metal Gear Solid (though he’s said that more than once), but don’t be surprised if he will be.

It will be interesting to see where this series goes now, since MGS4 kind of left no room for a true sequel. Maybe it’s a modern take on the original Metal Gear titles? I guess we’ll find out later this month!

SSX Goes Retro with Tricky Trailer

EA Sports has released a new trailer for their upcoming game SSX (previously SSX: Deadly Descents) featuring a remixed version of “It’s Tricky” by Run D.M.C. There is no word on whether the song will be in the game, but the trailer is a throwback to SSX Tricky, an earlier title in the series.

SSX was originally being marketed as a grittier version of the past games, but with this video, it seems EA Sports is finally showing fans the humorous and over the top gameplay that they have been accustomed to.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising Gets a New Producer. Again.

According to Joytiq, there seems to be some shuffling going on over at Kojima Productions. Hideo Kojima passed the producer role for MGS: Rising to Shigenobu Matsuyama in June 2010, but now it has been confirmed that production responsibilities will now land on Yuji Korekado, who is also working on ZOE HD.

The game is scheduled to have more of a showing at this year’s VGAs (on December 10th), but it begs the question: with the shuffling of producers, is there something inherently wrong with the game or is the game’s direction so questionable that these guys don’t want to take the reigns? I guess we’ll have to wait until December to see what we’re getting.

Darkstalkers Coming Soon to PSN

Yes, it’s true! Darkstalkers is, indeed, headed to PSN. Darkstalkers landed in arcades in early 1994 and later arrived on the original PlayStation in 1996. It was a title that set the tone for Street Fighter Alpha’s release thereafter. We have gotten a release date from Capcom; currently set at November 29th. Price has yet to be announced. I, personally, recall spending countless dollars on this bad boy my junior year in high School and cant wait to revisit it on my PS3. Here is a glimpse of what to expect below.
