PS3BlogCast Episode 27

The podcast is back and in good form after taking a week off because of the holiday! I hope you all had a good one, ate plenty of turkey and what have you, I sure did. Now it’s time to kick back by the fire, keeping warm, and listening to your favorite podcast of the week.

Tune in to catch FooBear and myself discuss all the video games news that’s been coming out, as well as catching up on FooBear’s gaming issues as of late.

We also ran a little bit longer than usual on this one, and we didn’t even get to talk about Assassin’s Creed Revelations! BAH! Next time…Gadget…next time.

@Foobear: I cannot agree with you more about your troubles. My fat PS3 died recently (launch day PS3) and I got a new slim. 20 days out, my slim died. I got my slim replaced by gamestop, and after another 20ish days, the SECOND slim died. I am now on my THIRD PS3 slim in less than two months.

no. this lunchbox i know managed to sneak in a full size bag of cheetos into the ballpark not having any pockets.

as far as the ps3 thing goes. i heard people that get the YLOD get it cheaply repaired and then turn around and sell it to gamestop. the YLOD is just an ultimate killer for the console.

i can only hope the third time is the charm for you, isli.

Just let me know if you can make it a few days before and you’ll be good! Even during the day we will record just PM me :) always good to have guests.

I heard it too XD…also the constant video game controller. Someone likes to game at the same time they podcast >_> not naming names. The snoring was probably his dog XD because it couldn’t be his “roommate” because that’d mean HE was gaming! GUILTY

Impossible. We all know that certain someone would NEVER game while podcasting. Especially not Dead Island.

my original 60GB PS3 died almost a year ago. I had it repaired in February, having my RSX reballed with higher quality solder (although gophermods also replaced the RSX just in case). Apparently, the solder used is industry standard lead-free solder, and it melts on the contacts on the RSX to the board either away from them or into neighboring contacts, which cause the RSX to fail (so technically, it’s an overheating issue, where the solder itself overheats). Thus, I haven’t lost anything and have had 0 problems since I got it back. You can check the service here:

    http://www.gophermods.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=5

this is the particular service I got:

    http://www.gophermods.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=425

turnaround is really fast, too. PS3 runs like new again

guess I’m lucky sounds like we’re talking dead PS3 and my 80gb is going well. just upgraded the HD to 500 and it’s nice to have space for all my stuff.

ugh.. Yeah… but NO. Day 1 patches are a sign of trouble. Bethesda gets away with murder. Just the same way you say “Oh you can’t bug test EVERY possible scenario in open world games” yeah that’s reasonable to a point but it’s also reasonable to a point to expect the game to work. Bethesda games are infamously breaking. Not though some secret glitch that skipped a programmer’s notice but basic gameplay. It’s again not like multiplayer games which crash under the untested server stress these are single player games. Bethesda skates by on a aspirational reputation. They try hard so we just let them get away with it. IMO.. not ok.
