Wow. That was a disaster. I’m embarrassed for Kojima…I’m glad he’s walking away.

When did Platinum Games disappoint? As far as I remember, Platinum Games (Bayonetta, Vanquish) have always provided first class products. Yes they’ve lacked in terms of the story aspects, but with Kojima’s supervision I am confident that Metal Gear Rising will surprise many people, including my self. Metal gear Solid Rising developers at Kojima’s production have struggled with the story for so long, they almost cancelled the project. Apparently they created something that couldn’t be linked to the MGS universe. Platinum Games stepped up, took on the unfinished project with a vision. They’ve known this is not MGS and that’s why they’ve changed the title to Metal Gear Rising. This is completely a new direction for the game. Again, this is not Metal Gear Solid, so don’t look at it like a failed attempt to the series. Platinum Games have produced some of the most underrated brilliant games in history. This is their time to shine. I am very excited for this new direction, especially that Kojima will have time to focus on new projects ;)

Bayonetta for the PS3 was a techincal mess. Game was still good though.

Kojima stated that before Platinum Games got involved the game was basically canned. PG brought it back to life.

Rising doesn’t look as flashy as the tech demo that was revealed 2 years ago but PG is one of the best studios out there when it comes to action games. Kojima and others from Kojima Productions are involved with the project which is a good sign if you ask me.

It just seems so…typically Japanese…not Kojima at all…not Metal Gear at all.

This is exactly my feeling. It looks way too much like a flashy anime than a Metal Gear game. The fact that Raiden’s roots are from the Metal Gear universe should indicate that the game should feel like it is still in the Metal gear universe. This just looks completely unrelated. I think Kojima himself won’t be involved in this title’s production as one would like, and it seems to show.

Ah well, at least Metal Gear Solid 5 is in the works. And Kojima should have something to do with that.

I’ll still be picking this up. But might not be day 1. The first thing I thought of when I saw this new trailer was Ninja Gaiden ..
