Final Fantasy XIII-2 Master & Monsters Trailer

Square Enix recently released a video preview of the Master & Monsters system in FFXIII-2 . This new feature brings a unique feel to the fast paced Paradigm shift system, giving you the freedom to fully customize your captured monsters and their attributes, summon them to assist you in battle or unleash powerful spells that can also lead into button-pressing action sequences that are unique to each monster.

I got a chance to get some hands-on with the demo at San Diego Comic-Con six months ago in July, and if you’ve played FFXIII then you should feel right at home with FFXIII-2. Since it was a demo I didn’t get a chance to fully dive into FFXIII-2 battle system, but it does feel very promising. Hopefully it’s enough for other Final Fantasy fans to give the XIII universe another chance.

Looking forward to this sequel. Still need to do a platinum run on FF XIII before I can even consider buying this one.

Lord, the platinum must be a nightmare. I enjoyed playing through the main storyline of ff13, but it was a slog. I can’t imagine grinding lon enough to build up all the weapons to ultimate status, holding all items in the game, etc.

At any rate, I like the idea of capturing creatures and deploying them as well.

@premiersoupir: Not really, just time consuming. Most are story based and the rest you can only get AFTER completing the game. Mostly grinding. I just need a good 100 hour chunk of time to give it a go hahaha.

yea most of the time spent is used to grind one enemy. but he is right next to a save point, so its easy to reload when you don’t get what you need. Besides i enjoyed the combat system and the game so it wasn’t that big of a problem for me

I only got about 75% of the trophies for FFXIII once i beat all of the crystal missions, made my attempt to get treasure hunter, max out everyone’s grid, but i admit the grind is just too long even with the double CP & grind spots. It’s all endurance tho.

Yeah, an extra 20 hours would get you platinum hehe.

FF13 was the worst FF I have ever played, I couldn’t belive that they put a FF game on rails! So straight forward and uninspired.

I still need to beat FF13, I hate having to avoid all things FF13-2

@Baba0Booey: Go and buy Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light on DS to make it all better!
