Free Points Saturday for December 10th
Posted by Jay in Free Points Saturday, QuickNews on December 10th, 2011
Slightly earlier this week, since I remembered this time. Anyway, remember, for the month of December, it’s double points and double entries for Free Points Saturday! That means 20 entries with 300 points each. As always, if it takes too long to get people to answer, I will provide clues. And the final clue will be the answer itself. If there are still spots left after about an hour of posting the answer, I will just have to take some of the points myself
.
So, without further ado, here’s this week’s question:
This title solely released on the PlayStation, but other games in the series have been seen on numerous platforms before and after this release. In this particular addition, throughout some of the ‘hub’ levels, which took place between themed levels (in different periods of time), are three hidden crystal keys used to transport the main character to the aforementioned themed levels. What is the name of this game?
Hint: Don’t use any punctuation, just letters and/or numbers.
Hint 2: One addition to the series took forever to release
Hint 3: The main character usually shows up to kick ass and chew bubble gum, but is usually out of gum

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Patch 1.06 Is Live
Posted by Jason in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, QuickNews on December 10th, 2011

This is a small 4mb fix that takes care of all the amazing people who add buttons next to their names. I always laughed when I saw it but it can be bothersome. I may go on a rant a bit here for a moment but how many Call of Duty titles do we have now? How many times are they going to release them with the same set of problems?
Regardless we have had a ton of patch’s and there has been many improvements to what remains to be the most brainless fun out there. Here is a full list of what has been changed and what is in the works.
PlayStation Move With Projection Mapping | Studio Output
Posted by Tosh in PlayStation Eye, PlayStation Move, PLAYSTATION Store on December 9th, 2011
The clip above was created with the help of the PlayStation Move. Here is how it’s done:
Each clip was shot in one take, the visual effects created using a mixture of props, live actors camouflaged in Lycra and, crucially, the technique of projective mapping – projecting backgrounds plus animation onto the environment, in this case the walls, furniture and other surfaces in the room.
To look realistic, the images being projected have to be distorted to suit the geometry of the “screen”, and the viewpoint must be stationary. But Studio Output wanted to capture the results using a roving camera. That was where the PlayStation Move played a key role. Studio Output attached it to their camera and used it to track its movements. The readings were then fed back to a system which adapted the projected image in real time, making the backgrounds dazzlingly convincing throughout each clip.
Pretty amazing stuff I must say and they haven’t even pushed it to the limits yet. They envision that this could one day evolve into a augmented reality experience. This sounds like true next generation technology. What are your thoughts on this?
