Avalanche Studios Will Reveal a New Game at E3 |

Avalanche Studios, the developer behind the Just Cause series, and the more recent Renegade Ops, has told IGN at GDC, that it will be revealing one of two in production games at this years E3.

Avalanche founder Christofer Sundberg told them that the new game won’t be a sequel to Just Cause 2 or Renegade Ops, but that it “will run on a modified version of Just Cause 2’s Avalanche Engine.” This greatly dissapointed me, however also give me hope for a much better game. Just Cause 2, although cheesy cut scenes, happens to be one of my favorite games of all time. (If you haven’t tried it, I believe there is still a great demo, and it is only $19.99 on PSN right now!)

Sundberg also told IGN that “all of the games in development at Avalanche will be story-centric open-world games. ‘It’s really challenging and fun to show license holders what we can do with an open world,’ he explained.”

Sundberg did state that the game wouldn’t be based on any upcoming film, however he also wouldn’t comment on the rumor indicating Avalanche’s involvement with Mad Max: Fury Road, the planned film.

  • I haven’t played Just Cause 2 yet, but I’ve seen tons of videos that Jason shared ;p Looks really cool and the engine flexibility is great, this unannounced game could be a title worth of my attention.

  • Oly

Pedro DL the demo and try it out.. great fun!

  • I’m kinda disappointed that this game isn’t a sequel to just cause 2, definitely one of my favorite games of all time too, even though I haven’t played it in months(I learned my lesson; never lend a game to someone you don’t know too well). I’m definitely excited for any new releases from Avalanche Studios
