Vita’s New Firmware offers more PS1 support

With the Launch of the new 1.8 firmware your Vita has become capable of running a small handful of PlayStation one games. Luckily you won’t have to wait for your favorite title to become available on the Vita store. There is a workaround that will allow you to access more PSOne games on your shiny Vita, and the process is simple and only requires that you do not install the game on your PS3. Simply download the title you would like to transfer to your Vita via the PlayStation Store. When I say don’t install it I mean simply leave it in its “bubble” form on the PlayStation 3. Now, connect your Vita to your PS3 and run content manager. Choose to Transfer from PS3 to Vita and chose PlayStation One. That’s it. You now have a bigger list of games to play blowing away the small eight Sony listed.

Full list below of what is compatible thanks to users at NEOGAF, after the break.

Dude, I really want to like this whole handheld idea, but honestly, between the family and my job I barely get time to play my PS3. How do you guys manage?

@jason I wish your dad the best bro, I know he’s going to make it.

ps: the only PS1 game I’d be interested in playing is FF Tactics.

Well here is the kicker. The triple filtering makes the ps1 games look like a re-release so alot are worth another playthrough. I was shocked at how god Resident Evil Dc looked. Was also shocked at how bad the acting was lol “Look what is this. It is blood. I hope it is not Chris’s blood. Jill go see what you can find. I will stay here and look at the blood” lmao Final fantasy 7 also looks amazing on Vita. It really smooths out the edges in the sprites. Vita has some killer hardware. Disgea3 also looks way better then the ps3 version. The screens in my review were captured from the Vita
