[Interview] Launch Day Event Details For PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal

During my time at PAX PRIME a week ago. I managed to ask Omar Kendall, lead designer of Superbot Entertainment, a couple of questions regarding their upcoming game Sony Smash-Bro, whoops.. I meant PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal. I was wandering around Sony’s booth and there he was, just standing next to the game stations.

PaulFierce: This is the first public showing of PS All-Stars besides the San Diego Comic-Con. How is the consumer reaction to the game?

Omar Kendall: The reaction is great. We want the players to first get a good grasp of the basic controls; from then on the game play becomes very rewarding. It may take some time to get used to the system. However, once you get the hang of it, you’ll notice a very polished game from the ground up that we’re proud to present.

PaulFierce: Do you have any plans for launch day? Will we see more of that live action commercial?

Omar Kendall: Yes we do. If you’re familiar with Capcom’s Fight Club events, we will be having our own. The location is still unannounced, and we may even have it nationwide. The commercial is something Sony cooked up. I have not seen it besides the footage that was attached to character intros at Comic-Con. But I would love to see something like that “Michael” commercial, but for All-Stars.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal will be available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on November 20, 2012.

I played the beta, even tho it only has 4 characters, radec, kratos, and um 2 otehrs i forget who its a like a dog with a hat and sweet tooth. Yea its strictly online, so its kinda hard since some of the players on their are already pros.

Personally Im not a fan of these kinds of games, I get confused where my character is at times. And the controllers are annoying.

part of the reason why i’m hard on All-Stars is because I think Smash Bros actually does a good job regarding those issues. Smash Bros can be confusing to look at before you know what’s going on but when you learn the basics it’s not usually that hard to keep an eye on your character. Plus you can customize that game pretty well to reduce the amount of chaotic things going on at once. For instance you can play with all the items and the drop rate at max and yea it’s nearly impossible to see what’s going on but you can remove explosive items, give a more reasonable drop rate and it can tone down very well.

They need characters like snake and raiden nathan hale capelli and few other 3d party ppl, n th main heroes n villains from all exclusives and just have at it.

I’m also expecting this to bomb… for some reason, Sony hasn’t had the best luck with exclusives lately (and they’re supposed to be “the reason why the PS3 rules”)…
