Blu-ray Releases For The Week Of Nov 21st |

Another Studio Ghibli movie comes to Blu-ray this week. The lucky winner is Grave of the Fireflies. It’s not a movie you want to watch very often because it’s a sad story but it is a amazing film. Anything interest you this week?

Highlights for this week: Grave of the Fireflies, The Expendables 2, Ken Burns: The Dust Bowl, Tarantino XX 8-Film Collection [Blu-ray] (Pulp Fiction/Inglourious Basterds/Reservoir Dogs/Kill Bill Vol. 1/Kill Bill Vol. 2/Jackie Brown/Death Proof/True Romance), WWE: The Attitude Era, Heaven’s Gate (Criterion Collection), Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season, InuYasha: The Final Act – Set One, That’s Entertainment: Trilogy Giftset,

  • I want a studio Ghibli blu ray collection

  • I second what @kane112 said and I must have the Tarantino Collection!

  • I’m with Kane. Give us a full $300 Ghibli on Bluray collection!

  • Though i would prefer one from Studio Ghibli and not Disney

  • Grave of the Fireflies will make a grown man cry

  • @Kane112: Yeaaah… that won’t happen. It’s either by Disney, or no US boxset.

  • Grave of the Fireflies will ruin your day..Such a sad (but great) movie.

  • Tosh

When they first released Grave of the Fireflies in Japan. They did a double feature with My Neighbor Totoro showing after Grave Of The Fireflies so the kids would be totally depressed leaving the theater.

+1 on the huge Studio Ghibli Blu-ray set, BUT only from Studio Ghibli. I would prefer it to be subtitled. I think the Japanese Ghibli Blu-rays work on US though. Do NOT buy the Disney version of Totoro. They cut out scenes from what I’ve heard and changed some of the words. See if you can find the old DVD version from Fox (I think).

  • ye i would be up for getting an imported version from Japan

  • Eddie

yea grave of fireflies is too sad for me. I’d love a Ghibli blu-ray collection as well.

  • @Tosh: Yep. Japan is part of Region 1 for Blurays so as long as the menus are in English (or you know how to navigate a Japanese menu) you’d be set. LOVE the boxes for the Ghibli Bluray releases:

  • Tosh

I’m sure you could manage the menus in Japanese. Just takes some guess work, lol. All I need is to play the movie. Then hit the sub-title button on the PS remote to select english subs.
