[PS4] Dual Shock 4 and New Eye Revealed |

The newly revealed DUALSHOCK 4 has a similar look to the DUALSHOCK 3, with some great enhanced as well as new features. These features include:

  • A new highly sensitive six-axis sensor
  • Fine-tuned Dual analog sticks with a new surface
  • Newly designed L2/R2 buttons
  • A new “Options” button that combines “Select” and “Start”
  • A new “Share” button that allows new co-op features, game image/video shares and more
  • A new touch pad similar to that on the back of the PS Vita
  • A new light bar with LED that illuminates in various colors (see below)
  • A built-in speaker and headset jack to deliver high-fidelity sound effects from the games

There was also revealed “a dual camera which can sense the depth of the environment in front of it and also track the 3D location of the controller via its light bar. The new camera incorporates four microphones capable of accurate sound detection and source origination, and it will support the PlayStation Move motion controller with more precision than ever before.”

I personally really like the look of the DUALSHOCK 4 and can’t wait to get my hands on one. What do you think?

For a more indepth look, check out all the details on the official PlayStation Blog here.

  • Nice, not liking the screen on the front, and I didn’t like the share button until they showed what could be done with it. And finally the shoulder buttons have been redesigned.

  • Kicks

Looks like I can finally retire the trigger grips I have to add to the ps3 dual shock
Not sure if I like the concave analog sticks. Hopefully my FPS Freeks still work on them

  • Jay

The trigger buttons need to have more curve in them to better form around your fingers for better grip. If they’re like a rubber-like compound that the sticks have, then it might not be so bad. Also, the analog sticks look a little too small, but I do like the design for better grip.

  • i like glad they get the basic design of the DS

  • i really like the headphone/speaker everything about this looks great

  • Note that the article says there’ll be a headset included in the box with the PS4.

  • pretty cool, but I hope the dual shock 3 can also work on PS4.
I have 3 here at home, and have to buy again, not good: (

  • headset in box… finally something the xbox people have been begging for.

  • Oly

Ya headset in the box, but I’d never use it anyway.. I love the newer PS Headset the Pulse

  • Yay for flared triggers! I can’t do without my after market snap-ons, but they’re a royal pain when I’m in the middle of a fierce fight, I jam down on the trigger too hard, the piece pops off, my finger slips, and I’m left just standing there holding my gun getting shot, lol.

  • This really looks nice. And now hopefully my hands wont hurt anymore. DS3s were killing me by being small. Love the new look of both the cameras and the controllers.

  • Will the camera be bundled with every PS4? In the conference I remember them talking about how DualShock4 was developed in tandem with the camera, but it didn’t specifically mention a default bundle. I hope they do bundle it.

  • Jay

from the sound of it, it will be standard

  • Oly

    I can’t wait!

  • This controller looks great. Great evolution to the Dual Shock.
