New Feature: Girlfriend Review

What is Girlfriend Review? Well, it’s just that. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while but never really had the opportunity, until now.

The basic idea behind this new feature is that while I’m playing my games, my girlfriend is typically there through the majority of the campaign (seeing as how she’s over at my place almost every day). Though she’s usually doing her own thing: writing a novel or screenplay, reading a book, or even catching up on her TV shows via Hulu on her iPad.

I thought it would be fun, after I’ve finished the story, to have her write up a review for the game. It won’t be in the standard format that we use on the site, since she’ll have no input on gameplay mechanics (since she’s not a gamer), so it will be more like a movie or TV episode review. The perspective of someone who’s just spectating from throughout the play sessions.

Obviously this will only be posted as I finish certain titles, though with all of the games coming out this month it should be a pretty active feature on the site. I plan on posting the first one tomorrow and with any luck, I’ll have one each week. Provided that I finish a game and that she has the time to write up the review.

I’m hoping they’ll be entertaining to everyone, especially those of you who’ve beaten the games she’ll be reviewing. I’m sure the articles will slowly evolve over time as she and I work out the kinks in the format, seeing what works and what doesn’t.

So keep your eyes open.

curious if this could also be done in the form of a game like rayman orgins, though i’ve found it hard to get her to play with me for more than 1hr. Ideally it’d be good to do that as well. curious to see how this turns out.

This will actually just be Jcm writing the review, except he’ll wear a skirt or dress while writing it :p

Interesting idea ! Will be fun to read a game review from a spectator perspective !

This is a great review, watching a video game really gives you a completely different perspective compared to actually playing it. My sister rarely plays video games, but she ended up beating Uncharted 2 & 3, and she only started playing them because she would watch me play.

“This game sucks so bad. I walked infront of the tv in a nighty and he didnt even notice me” translation in manly terms “This game is the bomb! you wont even notice your girlfriend in a nighty”

    LOL at these comments ^

But what’s really funny is that I’ll be doing my own feature GIRLFRIEND REVIEW as well starting next week. It is a a little different tho as I am actually reviewing girlfriends.
I will be starting with Clint’s as she spent last night with me.

fantastic idea. But functionally this turns into a story review with a touch of graphical commentary. I mean it should be compelling still. I want to see what we can do with this.

@wolfkin that’s why I said it would be more like a movie review, since she just has no gameplay input. I’ve had the first one ready to go (actually had it two days ago) but it will probably be different than the rest that will come out. Mainly because the game series has had movies as well.

These will be in no way a proper review for a game and I’ll note it on the bottom of the articles. I’ll also proof them to make sure they’re not spoiler filled.
