PS3BlogCast Episode 89

Welcome to another week of the podcast. It’s a busy one, seeing as we go about 50 minutes with nothing but news discussions. There is of course the usual stuff between stories.

I’ve picked up Metro: Last Light off the PSN, since it was discounted for plus members at $47.99. I’m looking forward to diving into that one. You should go read Jason’s review, though it is the PC version. Perhaps someone could do a short PS3 impressions piece to see how they think it is.

Anyways, enjoy the podcast this week! Leave your comments below, I read them all!

Gran Turismo 6 on PS3 makes sense financially since there is a bigger install base, but if there ever was a game that could convince a LOT of people to buy a PS4, GT 6 is it. Maybe there will be a GT 6 on PS4 as well and Sony isn’t telling yet?

IGN asked PD about a PS4 version and Yamauchi said that it could eventually port to the PS4, but it won’t be a launch title and likely won’t release until after a bit of DLC came out for the PS3 version.

Therefore, if they do make the PS4 version of GT6, they want it to be a more complete package, likely including released DLC up to that point. There is also word that they can try to make it so you can continue where you left off on the PS3 version if you do decide to upgrade, which would be hugely beneficial. The way they talk about the new game’s physics and graphics engines, it’s expandable, meaning it can theoretically be adapted to future titles and more powerful hardware.

If they eventually port it to PS4 it would make a lot more sense to release an edition with DLC either on disc or free download. It would give people a reason to wait or at least re-buy it on the PS4 if they decide not to get the DLC as it comes out. I actually think that’s something they could possibly do with other games during the inevitable release lull around this time of the year. Yeah its a cheap(ish) pull for sales but it will likely keep PS4 sales up until more big titles release for it.

Wonder if we’ll get any PS4 announcements before E3. Sure, E3 2013 is just around the corner, but I don’t think that a new console release can be summed up in just a single E3 press conference.

Nope.. PS4 is all about E3!
