[Zen Pinball 2 PS3 Review] Bob’s Burgers

Welcome to the first of four reviews I will be writing for the Balls of Glory pinball table pack now available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita! The first game I played from the pack is Bob’s Burgers, a table based on a popular TV show in the United States. Unfortunately, the show is not broadcast in my country, so I have absolutely no idea what the show is about, but thankfully the pinball table has given me some insight into what it is like, judging by the fun and colorful pinball table and all the characters from the show.

As with all pinball tables in Zen Pinball 2, the animations are absolutely first class. You will have all kinds of fun with Gene, Linda, Tina and, of course, the star of this pinball table and the show, Bob. Bob’s Burgers features full voice acting, which is very good. Zen Studios has also improved on the text box in the upper left corner of the screen, and it is now pretty easy to read from a distance. It was an issue that really annoyed me, so kudos to the team for improving on that!

You can see Bob manning the burger shop near the mustard colored plunger, Linda is at the back where the fire extinguisher is, and Gene is at the front of the table wearing a burger suit – gotta feel sorry for the guy wearing that all day! Oh, and let’s not forget about Louise, who is opposite from Gene wearing a green dress.

One interesting feature of this table is the night and day cycle, and this directly affects the features depending on the time of day that is pretty awesome in itself. You can unlock a multitude of challenges by simply hitting certain ramps or missions as is the case for other pinball tables. As I said before, the missions and challenges change depending on the time of day, so it never get’s boring or tedious. It is nice to have that variety in a pinball table!

The graphics are very polished and cartoony, and they just ooze colorful charm. I have reviewed some pinball tables over the last few months, and I have to say this is by far the best and the most fun I have played to date and is a solid favorite of mine. It is very fun and very quirky, bright and colorful too. Even if you have never heard of or seen Bob’s Burgers, you’ll enjoy your time with this pinball table.

The base game for Zen Pinball 2 is a free download, and you must buy each pinball table separately or in one of the packs available. There are now more than 50 tables to play, and there’s definitely something for everyone with releases set in the universes from Portal, Star Wars, The Walking Dead, Plants vs. Zombies and more!
