According to VGLeaks, Final Fantasy XIII Versus, which was previously thought to be in development hell, had actual development stopped so that they could move the project to the PS4.

The other side of this is that its rumored that Sony will be co-developing FFXV and that will make it a PS4 exclusive.

Take all of this with a pinch of salt as it is still a rumor but VGLeaks release accurate information quite often.

The long awaited HD remake is just around the corner. Final Fantasy X and X-2 will be coming out for the PS3 and Vita this year. Square Enix has confirmed that the PS3 version will include both games and will cost $40. The PS Vita versions will be sold individually however prices have not been suggested as of yet.

The best part is that the versions released will be the International versions which were not released in North America. This will add story, sphere grids and super hard bosses known as Dark Aeons to FFX.

SE has stated that they are 70% complete on this project and that they are unsure if the special end mission that was released for FFX-2 will be included as that was a separate project in Japan. Either way, I can see hundreds of hours being put into these games for myself.

It’s that time again! Time for hardware rumors about the PS3 predecessor, new peripherals and more! It’s easy to get caught up in the hype being a gamer, going from console generation to generation. Many of us have been through many console generations (not saying how many as to not give away my old age) so we know about rumors and speculations. What to believe and what not to believe in most cases. Well I have some rumors for you that are hard to believe as they are unique and maybe even a little outlandish but let’s face it. We need outlandish in our consoles to keep them relevant in the gaming world.

Before we start. These rumors come from dualpixels.com through someone known as Geno who has delivered a lot of information before that has been true in the past so the source is credible. You can see Nintendo, Microsoft and other developer rumors here as well.

Let’s get to the meat and potatoes shall we? Also please remember these are just rumors for now.

PS4 will not be named the PS4. According to the insider rumors it will be dubbed Playstation Omni. It is currently referred to as Orbis as its code name. Playstation Omni will have many unique features and I shall start off with the most likely one first.

Gakai streaming services. With the recent acquisition of Gakai, Sony is laying down a system to support cloud based, streaming games. I think this much is a given. Rumors suggest that PSOne, PS2, some PS3 and all Playstation Omni games will be available on the Gakai service. If you purchase an Omni game, the rumor suggests you will be able to access it on any playstation approved hardware via the cloud.

The new controller is still unknown at this time. It could be another Dual Shock or a new controller completely but what is known is that it will sport a biometric feedback to the console itself. Essentially pulse sensors that will track your attention and reaction to the game.

Next up…backwards compatibility. We all have been worried that the next iteration of Playstation will not be backward compatible. The reason for this is that Cell processors have pretty much hit their stride for performance and there are cheaper and more powerful alternatives available now. To include BC, Sony would need to place both the Cell and whatever new processor they go with in the system making it an expensive beast. The alternative suggested is that the Cell will be available in USB dongle form at the cost of $99 that will allow for BC if the user really is interested in it. This helps bring down the cost of the unit as well giving us an option. The downside is that if you must have it and refuse to use your PS3 that you currently have, it’s an expensive alternative.

Now for the coup de foudre! The rumor suggest that Sony will have a headset available, bundled with the Omni that will sport a clear OLED screen that will allow for off screen HUD’s and information as well as giving every TV, 3D functionality. This will also supply head tracking capabilities as well. This opens many avenues for game play options and styles. Perhaps even combine it with a headset so that its one unique piece.

Last but not least, the price goal for the system without the OLED viewer is $350-$399 and with the viewer $450-$499 and is aiming for a September 2013 release.

So what do you think? Unique? Interested? What would you change?

Ragnarok Odyssey was at one time, my most anticipated game for the Vita. Watching video after video, I found myself drooling over the art style and the thoughts of having an epic RPG on my beautiful OLED screen.

Developed by GungHo Online Entertainment and published by XSEED, Ragnarok Odyssey is a spin off of the popular Korean MMO Ragnarok Online in which Ragnarok Odyssey borrows many things from including art style and enemies.

Now you may think that this looks like a great and classic RPG that we all have been waiting for but you would be wrong…

Ragnarok Odyssey is a simple, straight forward, minimal depth action game. Upon starting the game, you are immediately greeted by your new guild of sorts where they begin to assign you jobs instantly. There really isn’t much of a background story at this point. You’re here, you’re a new recruit, do missions.

From this point on, the game is a mix of go to the mission desk, accept mission, do mission, collect reward, rinse and repeat. You can only accept one mission at a time, they are all timed missions and many are very loose on details.

Each mission accepted will take you through the same zones several times over fighting the same enemies over and over. Every single mission is either kill a certain number of enemies or collect an item which is obtained by killing certain enemies.

With that aside, RO does display some amazing graphics at times with some very detailed enemies, especially the bosses or super hard enemies you will find throughout certain missions. Character customization is pretty in depth as well allowing you to create some interesting protagonists. You also have the option of buying different sets of clothing but they do next to nothing for your physical stats. Each outfit you pick has a certain number of slots to assign cards and that is how you get certain stats. All outfits can be expanded, with the right materials and enough money, to support the same card value.

The multiplayer is also a great function for some of the tougher missions that you may be having problems with. Up to 4 people can play together in a co-op mode by visiting the bar area.

In conclusion, Ragnarok Odyssey is only half the game it could have been. It lacks any depth and really is just a mission based action game but it still is nice to look at and there is still a certain amount of fun that can be garnered. If you’re ok with it being repetitive and love action RPG’s, then this is the game for you.

Orgarhythm is essentially a battle of brothers or of light and dark Gods. You must rise up against your brother with your rhythm yielding legion of warriors using music and beats as your commands.

As part rhythm game, part strategy and part RTS, Orgarythm sounds like the ultimate clash of genres but this is only in theory and not execution.

The very first level has the best music that I’ve experienced in the entire game thus far. When the march of death starts, you have to tap one of three commands with the beat and button glow the best you can to get a good timing rating. There are three sets of commands you must choose and get them all perfect or your warriors will actually level down.

You can issue basic commands to your troops but it is very limited and often ends up in a confusing mess. After going through your three sets of beats and choosing the group you want you use, you draw a line with your finger to the area where you want to set up troops however they rarely listen well and generally end up just running into some object on the ground.

You also have no control over the God of Lights movements in this game. He slowly moves forward as you tap to level up you warriors. As said before, tapping levels up your troops and is used to issue commands. Even if enemies are not on the screen, you must continue tapping or your troops will be reset to level 1 after a few short moments.

Another issue is after you die 3/4 through the level or on a boss, you have to repeat your long agonizingly slow march all the way back.

Choosing the right group of troops for battle can also be a little hard since everything is noted by colors of elements. On color is another colors weakness but enemy colors are often hard to identify.

In conclusion, Orgarythm could have been so much more but instead it is a slow paced, awkward rhythm game. I would still recommend trying it out as it is different then most other types of games and some music is pretty electrifying. Who knows…maybe this could be a PS+ game in the future.
