Namco Bandai has announced a new release date for the home version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Previously slated for a ‘Holiday 2012′ debut, yesterday during the company’s ‘Global Gamers Day’ event held in Las Vegas Namco revealed a September release window for the fighter.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for the PS3 and 360 will boast 50 characters including exclusive new fighters not found in the arcade version, a new training mode called “Fight Lab” where players can hone their iron fists, as well as Pair Play mode. Pair Play-first introduced in the Arcade version earlier this year-allows for one versus one and one versus two action for those who prefer not to spend time learning two different fighters for the standard tag mode.

This week Harmonx lifted the lid on a new entry to the Rock Band franchise that does away with peripherals. Called Rock Band Blitz, this new single player, downloadable title for PSN and XBLA closely resembles Amplitude which was also created by Harmonix and released back in 2003 for the PS2.

With a single controller players manage five separate instruments which are each represented on screen by a note track that scrolls from top to bottom. Owners of previous Rock Band titles will be happy to know that many of the tunes from the entire Rock Band library will be supported in Blitz and the 25 new tracks included in the digital title will also be available for Rock Band 3.

Rock Band Blitz is due out this Summer for a yet to be announced price.

April 20th marks the one year anniversary of the malicious attack on Sony’s PlayStation Network that forced the service offline for several weeks. No PS3 owner in any part of the word can forget that day in history.

In North America PSN was down for 23 days, much longer for Asian gamers. When it was all said and done the event cost Sony $171 million. Fortunately for the Japanese electronics conglomerate dedicated PlayStation 3 owners returned in full force once it was all over.

However the days when players would nonchalantly purchase items and goods through the PlayStation Store with their credit cards became a thing of the past.

Despite the fact there have been no confirmed reports of credit card fraud due to the infamous PSN outage of 2011 consumers have demonstrated discipline when it comes to using plastic on the service. As recently as November 2011 PlayStation Network cards reportedly experienced a boost in sales, six months after the event.

As the one year anniversary draws near we’d like to know how have your buying habits been effected by the PSN outage of 2011? Are you confident in the measures taken by Sony after the hacking to use your credit cards again or are PSN cards your only means of making purchases?

Sony has formally announced Little Big Planet Karting for the PS3. While the surprise may have been spoiled a few weeks early when Canadian retailer Future Shop leaked a poster for the game during the PlayStation Destination event, today we get our first look at gameplay for the new title.

In the capable hands of the studio that brought us ModNation Racers, LBPK will feature four player multiplayer, gadgets from previous installments of the platformer plus new ones and a whole lot more. Without revealing too much about the racer developers United Front Games promise that players will be able to “modify the rules of the game itself to create completely new modes and challenges.”

Sackboy takes to the races later this year.

Here’s another HD collection to add to your PS3 library.

Today, Ted Price of Insomniac Games announced that the first three Ratchet and Clank games, initially released on the PS2 all those years ago, will be the next remastered trilogy coming soon to the PS3. The release of the Ratchet and Clank HD Collection will mark the 10th anniversary of the series.

Look for it to feature all of the regular goodies we’ve come to expect from first party remastered titles, including 3D support, as well as a competitive multiplayer mode. The Ratchet and Clank HD Collection is dated for a May 16th outing in Europe, but due to a “very special” surprise, Lombax fans in North America will have to wait until the Fall.
