We’re back! It’s been a few weeks due to scheduling conflicts and vacations but we’re together again to discuss video games. We get into our excitement over the potential of Destiny 2, as well as get into some deep discussion about what Microsoft’s Scorpio means for future consoles, and if the iterative console will even continue during the next cycle.
Well it’s not quite the Horizon spoilercast that I was hoping it’d be, since neither Isli or Xya have played Horizon yet. I used to think it was rough not being able to talk about a game in real life, but not even being able to on a gaming podcast? Rough.
Hopefully at some point soon we’ll finally be able to get into it, but I’m not sure when that’ll be.
Well it’s another delayed episode, but only by a few days this time. Unfortunately there was a lot of audio noise from Isli’s mic and I had to do my best with what I had to get it down to an acceptable level. So apologies ahead of time.
We get into speculating what we might see at E3 since the news was light this past week. I also give my impressions of Horizon Zero Dawn, but since no one else had started it yet I couldn’t get into any real discussion of my story thoughts. I’ve since finished it though and am now working on the platinum, so hopefully next episode I’ll be able to talk about it more while dancing around the spoilers.
What about you? Have you played Horizon? Let us know in the comments below!
It’s quite a delayed episode of the podcast. Unfortunately being under the weather and not having enough time to edit the podcast as I’d liked, not to mention being out on vacation, it’s a bit of an older recording. Luckily it was just a little over a week ago and there wasn’t much news which of course allowed us to just talk about FFXV spoilers, Resident Evil 7 DLC, and Sniper Elite 4.
It’s a slow week but we managed to squeeze by with the few bits of news, and I did get to go into details about my impressions from the Wildlands beta. We also discuss Nioh losing part of its co-op functionality at launch, which is a little disappointing. Hopefully they can just patch in enemy scaling in the future and allow people to co-op properly.
Digital Foundry put out a few videos showcasing what the Boost Mode does for non-patched games and the results are pretty interesting. I’ll be glad to see this feature come out when 4.5 officially launches.
What about you? Have you tried Boost Mode? Have you been playing Nioh? Let us know in the comments below!
Sony sent out invites for the 4.5 beta last week and in this episode we go over all of the features. One of the major ones is support for external HDDs which a lot of people are excited about. I’m also interested in the Boost Mode that has been added for the Pro. I’ve only been able to test it out on a few games but it’s a nice little extra for older games that might have had trouble hitting their targeted frame rate. Once the firmware launches I think I’ll finally be able to give Just Cause 3 a go.
The Wildlands beta was also this weekend which I enjoyed, though I didn’t run with a squad which I think would have been better. It felt a little stiff at first, but by adjusting all of the sensitivity sliders I was able to make it feel better.
What about you guys? Did you try Wildlands? Are you in the 4.5 beta? Let us know your thoughts on either in the comments below!
We’re getting ever closer to the release of Horizon at the end of February and plenty of outlets have gotten to spend a few hours with the game and share their opinions. It’ll be curious to see when the embargo is lifted down the line once review copies are sent out.
To hold us over in the mean time we have Resident Evil 7 from last week. I’ve since finished the game after the recording of this episode, so I’ll be getting into spoiler discussions about it next time. But I will say I enjoyed the game a ton and I’m curious what the DLC will bring.
But what about you? Did you beat RE7? What did you think? Let us know in the comments below!
Well Resident Evil 7 is here and I’m a little worried that it’ll take me quite some time to actually beat the game, due to the perspective. Sure I didn’t have too much issue with Alien Isolation, but that was tense and not scary. I can’t imagine how freaky it must be to play RE7 on PSVR, but I’m sure it’s a thrill.
Outside of RE7 we did get a nice little batch of new releases leading into the rest of this stacked Q1. Not to mention Sony is having another PSN sale, with a lot of previously discounted games on the list again so if you missed them the first time around make sure to pick them up!
I’m curious to see what the sales figures will be for RE7. It’s reviewing well and I hope that’s reflected in the sales figures. But what about you? Do you plan on picking it up? Let us know in the comments below!
