PS4BlogCast Episode 239

February 7, 2017 |

Sony sent out invites for the 4.5 beta last week and in this episode we go over all of the features. One of the major ones is support for external HDDs which a lot of people are excited about. I’m also interested in the Boost Mode that has been added for the Pro. I’ve only been able to test it out on a few games but it’s a nice little extra for older games that might have had trouble hitting their targeted frame rate. Once the firmware launches I think I’ll finally be able to give Just Cause 3 a go.

The Wildlands beta was also this weekend which I enjoyed, though I didn’t run with a squad which I think would have been better. It felt a little stiff at first, but by adjusting all of the sensitivity sliders I was able to make it feel better.

What about you guys? Did you try Wildlands? Are you in the 4.5 beta? Let us know your thoughts on either in the comments below!

We’re getting ever closer to the release of Horizon at the end of February and plenty of outlets have gotten to spend a few hours with the game and share their opinions. It’ll be curious to see when the embargo is lifted down the line once review copies are sent out.

To hold us over in the mean time we have Resident Evil 7 from last week. I’ve since finished the game after the recording of this episode, so I’ll be getting into spoiler discussions about it next time. But I will say I enjoyed the game a ton and I’m curious what the DLC will bring.

But what about you? Did you beat RE7? What did you think? Let us know in the comments below!

January 25, 2017 |

Well Resident Evil 7 is here and I’m a little worried that it’ll take me quite some time to actually beat the game, due to the perspective. Sure I didn’t have too much issue with Alien Isolation, but that was tense and not scary. I can’t imagine how freaky it must be to play RE7 on PSVR, but I’m sure it’s a thrill.

Outside of RE7 we did get a nice little batch of new releases leading into the rest of this stacked Q1. Not to mention Sony is having another PSN sale, with a lot of previously discounted games on the list again so if you missed them the first time around make sure to pick them up!

I’m curious to see what the sales figures will be for RE7. It’s reviewing well and I hope that’s reflected in the sales figures. But what about you? Do you plan on picking it up? Let us know in the comments below!

Welcome back to another episode of the podcast where this week the three of us discuss the Nintendo Switch conference, as well as the other bit of news there was. We’re all pretty curious with how the console will sell come its March release. Of course everyone knows that if it weren’t for Zelda it probably wouldn’t do so well. I’m also curious how many of the Zelda copies will sell on Wii U since it’s also coming to that platform.

Keeping in line with future releases we go over a list of games in Q1 of this year and it’s looking very promising. Especially with Resident Evil 7 around the corner and then Horizon.

What about you? Excited for the Switch or are you going to wait and see? Let us know in the comments below!

PS4BlogCast Episode 235

January 10, 2017 |

Well we had a bit of news this week though not as much from CES as I’d expect. Sure there were some fancy TVs shown, but I doubt the latency for them is low enough for optimal gaming. Hopefully they’ll start to cater their technologies to include better gaming conditions.

Xya and I also give our list of top ten for 2016 and I have to say it was much tougher to cut games than I thought it’d be. There were also a few games I didn’t get to in 2016, though I made sure to note which ones they were.

What about you? What were your top games of last year? Let us know in the comments below!

PS4BlogCast Episode 234

January 3, 2017 |

It’s the start of a new year, though the podcast was recorded on Saturday. The news has been pretty quiet so the majority of the podcast is about games we’ve been playing.

I’m looking forward to the tech conferences at CES this year, since I’m hoping for a nice refresh of 4K TVs. I’m mainly interested to see if they have a lower latency for gaming since that’s the biggest problem they all seem to have, outside of a few specific brands/models.

Did you make any gaming backlog progress over the holidays? Let us know in the comments below!

PS4BlogCast Episode 233

December 12, 2016 |

Well it’s been a light week in news as we start to hit the peak of the holiday season. There are still some game sales going on, so luckily if you missed any of the November deals you might be able to still get some decent ones on the PSN and other digital store fronts.

With the lack of news we get to talk about FFXV (spoiler free) though we do talk about a section of the game that some people have a problem with, and is in fact going to be patched at some point. Xya goes into some details about why some people don’t like that particular part, but also why she thinks it should stay how it is.

I haven’t finished Dishonored 2 yet, though I’m pretty far along, so Isli finally gets to talk about that game and his thoughts on playing it without powers vs with powers. I’m hoping to finish the game soon myself, but playing through without being spotted or killing kind of slows me down. Not to mention I’m playing a lot of Rainbow 6 and Battlefield 1 multiplayer.

What about you? Are you catching up on your backlog? Going to use any holiday time to push through it? Let us know in the comments below!

Well normally with these posts I like to give a bit of a rundown, but since this episode was recorded immediately after the PSX keynote I figured why not just jump straight in?
