With Halloween coming up, there are some nice deals going on at the PSN video store. On Friday the 21st you will be able to rent Scary Movie 4 for free. Pretty sure it will be for one day only. Then on you Saturday you will be able to vote for a free rental of 1408 or Halloween here.
Renegade Ops is a game that does not take itself seriously with it’s over the top voice acting and its cliché characters. You can tell it get its inspiration from 80’s action movies. We have the bad guy you love to hate, Inferno, who wants to blow the world up. Your typical “I am a big tough guy that takes no crap” General Bryant, who wants nothing more than to stop him. The UN are talking about negotiations with Inferno, which pisses Bryant off. He rips off his insignias, storms out, and swears to put a stop to Inferno. Now the fun begins. You start off getting to choose between four characters, each with their own vehicle, skill tree, and special power.
When I first heard of Two Worlds II I had no idea what it was. Even upon winning it on good old ps3blog.net I didn’t know what to expect. Now I have to say that I’m presently surprised. The game does have its bugs but is still an enjoyable play. I’m not a huge fan of sandbox style RPG’s, never really enjoyed Elders Scrolls or the like, but this game has caught my attention and I’m not sure why. It has a huge world to explore, people to talk to, many side quests, and everything you would expect from this type of game. I have now been playing the game probably around 10 hours or so, about 4 hours in single player and 6ish online.
Here’s my impression so far:
Hoard what to say… it’s simple and addicting with some action and strategy thrown in. You control a dragon and get to burn villages, steal gold, and kidnap princesses. How can it not be fun controlling a dragon and being the bad guy. And right now until 1/31 it’s on sale for $7.49 which is a steal for this wee gem.
The graphics are done well with some really nice detail going into the pieces on screen. The game is set to look like a board game with overhead camera and a wooden boarder around the playing area. The stage starts with the map falling down in tiles and sets up quite nicely. Every on the map is very detailed starting from the archers being able to make out the bow and arrows, to the individual houses in the villages. Though a drawback is that things are a bit small if you are not sitting close to your TV it can be hard to make some things out.
EA have just released a new twin analog game for $9.99 called MicroBot, along with a demo as well. In the game you control a MicroBot that was invented to help the immune system fight infection that was made worse by the previous version of a MicroBot. The Bot goes into a body to kill the bio-technical infection before its too late. The controls of the game are simple as with all twin analog games but the aiming and movement have changed slightly in the game.

Dead Nation, brought to you by Housemarque, who also brought us Super Stardust HD, is a dual-analog zombie apocalypse game that puts you in control of either Jack McReady or Scarlett Blake. Both characters have been bitten and are immune to the zombie virus and are some of the last remaining alive. You go around using the analogs, obviously, and kill thousands, and I mean thousands, of zombies with a variety of different weapons and techniques. Or you can join up with a partner in either online mode or with another controller in Co-op mode to blow those zombies apart.
