Naughty Dog Says PS3/Vita Can Do What Wii U Does
Posted by Tosh in Interviews, Off-Topic, PlayStation Eye, PlayStation Vita, PS3, PS3 Slim, Wii U on July 14th, 2011

Now I do agree that the PS3 & Vita could do what the Wii U does. Question is will developers make it happen? My guess is probably not or very few games will do it. Because they need to rely on consumers to own a PS3 & Vita vs the Wii U where they just need to buy the Wii U console/controller. For that reason alone I don’t see very many Wii U type games using the PS3/Vita combo.
Below is part of a interview that NowGamer did with Justin Richmond the Game Director at Naughty Dog.
Obviously you won’t develop for Wii U, but I want to get your thoughts on the hardware. Does the console spark your imagination in any way?
Justin Richmond: To be honest with you, the idea of it is very, very cool. But there’s nothing that the Wii U has that the Vita and PS3 doesn’t. You know, it’s an interesting piece of technology, and I’m interested to see how people use it.
I’m not completely sold yet. That the screen isn’t multi-touch, that’s a little weird. It seems there are some very strange holes in it, but to be fair, last time I was sceptical of the original Wii, and look at how that did. I’m sure that he games they make for Wii U will be amazing.
What are your thoughts on this?
Newest PS3 hardware to remove HD support over component cables

Popular news site Kotaku posted the picture above, which represents a memo leaked from a Gamestop retailer. The memo suggests that the newest PS3 hardware “referred to as the PS3 K chassis” will remove HD support over component cables and instead require users to use an HDMI connection. According to another popular gaming forum site Neogaf the main reason behind this is:
PS3 Slim Goes On a Diet

Sony’s updates don’t just beef up the PS3′s firmware. They release some small tweaks and updates to the hardware itself, too. Sony sent out the official word on the changes being assembled to the PS3 Slim console.
Gaming blog Andriasang says that the new slim spin-off, dubbed the CECH-3000B, is based on a 320 gigabyte PS3 Slim. The power consumption is being cut from 230W to 200W while the weight is being cut down by 400 grams. Other tweaks include external changes to the power and eject buttons. One retailer also mentioned the removal of LED lamps, although Andriasang notes that the specifics aren’t quite clear.
One thing that isn’t changing is the price. The CECH-3000B model will have the same ¥ 34,980 price point as the current 320GB PS3 Slim model. The included accessories – Dual Shock 3, power cable, AV cable and USB cable — also remain the same.
The new models will start showing up on retails shelves sometime this month.

Do you (Your Name Here) take the PlayStation as your lawfully…

June 12, 2008. My first PS3. Do you remember your first?
To love and to hold.
Have you ever been in love? I have. To a machine. Not just a machine, but a PlayStation. Do you remember the day clearly? Your first PlayStation console? Whether you purchased it yourself or with the help of others, that day can never be erased from our memories. The first game I ever invested my time with was Metal Gear Solid. I was a freshman in college in Chicago. Winter break came along and I chose to stay in my dorm room. As my ex-girlfriend and her roommates went home for the winter, I stayed home with the company of Solid Snake and Sniper Wolf.
A couple years later, I’m out of college. I have my first job and I had my sights on a PlayStation 2. First paycheck, I went to my local Toys ‘R’ Us to purchase my second love. So many memories we made. From my first 23-2 game in SOCOM 2, to the endless nights securely transporting convoy trucks safely in SOCOM 3, the amazing final fight with Solidus Snake, the clutch field goal that won it for you in Madden 2003, the drama that unfolded with Ocelot, Volgin, and the Boss; after going through those experiences, I knew, at that moment, I would always be a PlayStation fan.
The PS3 Slim Silver

Landing in Japan on March 10th is the PS3 Slim Silver. Both the 160GB and 320GB variants will be available. Remember back when the Fat was in the Silver was made as a limited edition? Does color really matter you? Would you like to see this hit stateside? [Source]
