Posted by Eddie in QuickNews, Sales Data on November 2nd, 2011
Sony has recently announced that it has shipped 3.7 million PS3′s in Q2 of this fiscal year which is a full 1.4 million more than the Xbox 360. This brings the total PS3′s to 56 million where as the Xbox 360 is 57.3 million units shipped.
The bad news is Sony listed a 350 million dollar loss for the entire company while MS posted a profit in its game division.
In other news the PS2 sold a surprising 4.3 million units so far this year. This system will not die.
CoD: Black Ops Surpasses 1 Billion in Sales
Posted by Luke in Call of Duty: Black Ops, PS3, Sales, Sales Data on December 21st, 2010

Activision-Blizzard announced earlier today that the latest installment in the Call of Duty franchise has surpassed 1 billion in sales worldwide. This is nearly a month faster than it took CoD: Modern Warfare 2 to hit 1 billion. It is now on track to set another milestone in the entertainment and video game industry. Before the games launch the expectations were set pretty high but now it seems that Wall Street’s expectations for the game weren’t high enough. Colin Sebastian of Lazard Capital Market has stated that they are “increasing the unit estimate for ‘Black Ops’ to 19 million from 17 million”.
In its first five days on shelves, Black Ops pulled in $650 million. Just by looking at the numbers you can see that the game is going to break Modern Warfare 2′s record in everyday. Just recently it was released that Activision is already working on the games first DLC. Modern Warfare 2 had two downloadable map packs, the first of which pulled in 37.5 million in its first week. I am sure we can expect that the DLC for Black Ops will top that.

Posted by Sakinah in PS3, Sales, Sales Data on October 1st, 2010
August was a big month for PSN with sales up some 20% from July. One of the month’s biggest hits were the game adaption of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. It sold 117,000 units in August generating $1.2 million USD. The PSN version of the game sold nearly 4x more than it’s XBLA counterpart which moved 38,000 units. The PSN exclusive Joe Danger also continues to rake in money for Hello Games as it sold an additional 14k units.
PlayStation Network proved strong in August, especially for marquee title Scott Pilgrim,”said Benjamin Schlichter, Director of Research & Analysis at FADE. “This title was one of the few instances where a game based on a movie was better received than the movie itself.”
The top 5 PlayStation Network titles for August 2010, by revenue, include Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Ubisoft) – 117,000 units ($9.99), Castle Crashers (The Behemoth) – 27,000 units ($14.99), Shank (Klei Entertainment) 23,000 units ($14.99), ZEN Pinball (Zen Studios) 27,000 units ($9.99) and Joe Danger (Hello Games) 14,000 units ($14.99).
