Dead Nation: Zombie Survival Guide Trailer
Posted by Luke in Dead Nation, Media, PS3, PSN on August 16th, 2010
Here is an interesting new game that is coming to the PSN. It’s called Dead Nation and it’s about surviving the onslaught of zombies. This seems to be one of those games that is just what you want in killing zombies. You’re give a whole bunch of weapons, and do whatever it takes to survive. You get a Rifle, for power and accuracy in taking out zombies from afar, you get a Shotgun to help you when entering tight alleyways and crossing bridges for close combat, and an SMG to mow down enemies as they are about to overrun you. There is also a flamethrower for all you pyromaniacs out there that just want to burn everything to the ground. Some of the other ideas that really stand out to be about the game is how you can use the environment to aid you.
You can shoot a vending machine when you have a bunch of zombies catching up to you, the vending machine goes crazy, and distracts the zombies as you run for safety or you can do something a bit more creative. Place a land mine in front of the vending machine, have the zombies go after the vending machine and well we know what happens next. Sound interesting? Good! Now go and check out the trailer after the jump.
Housemarque Talks Dead Nation
Posted by Jay in Dead Nation on June 18th, 2010
I don’t know about you, but given the quality of Housemarque’s last title, Super Stardust HD, I am very excited for this one. Though its, yet, another zombie game, I think the fun factor and overall quality will differentiate itself from other titles, both in content and in quality. Anyone else going to pick this one up? Oh, and the video above shows some new gameplay we haven’t seen before.
Dead Nation to be Shown at E3
Posted by Jay in Dead Nation on June 9th, 2010
It’s looking like Sony’s PSN title lineup is really starting to come to life and kick the competition’s ass, as there has been game after game being announced to be coming exclusively to the console (the most recent release being the excellent Joe Danger). And here’s another one, Dead Nation, which is in development by Housemarque. Darrin reported on the game back in August.
The trailer above was created from when Sony called out to fans to be cast in an “upcoming zombie-game trailer” and the folks they chose are, well, in this trailer. It’s a bit cheesy, but the coolest parts, in my opinion, are, of course, the gameplay.
Dead Nation looks to be like the overhead shooters we’ve all come to love (think Super Stardust HD, PixelJunk Shooter, etc), mixed with zombie after zombie coming after you, much like Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising (the titles for zombie games seem to have a common theme anymore, but I just can’t put my finger on it…).
The game looks really good graphically, though, and if they can differentiate themselves with the content and make it a very fun game (offline and online co-op please; with maybe up to 4 players?), this could be another one to keep your eye on (it is being done by the people who developed the excellent Super Stardust HD, anyway). Sony is expected to show more of the title at E3 next week.
