***Warning, before reading, this situation could detail some very minor spoilers. Nothing story driven, just a specific scenario late in Chapter 6.***
I wasn’t the biggest fan of Dead Space 1, but I understood its appeal and respected it enough to give the predecessor a go. Much to my surprise I was having more fun with this sequel than I did with the original. However my fun turns to disappointment after reaching a certain point in Chapter 6.
There is a certain area in a zero gravity room that the entrance you need to take is cast in uncontrollable flames. There are 3 oxygen machines pumping out air that are keeping the flame alive. Your job is to remove the battery cores from the machines so that the oxygen is depleted and the flames extinguished only upon my arrival, all 3 battery cores were already missing.
I wasn’t exactly sure what needed to be done here and I thought nothing of it. This was a fairly large room and I figured I just needed to explore some more. Upon exploring I found some items such as a precious power core so I went back to the previous save point right outside of the door and saved my game. This was my mistake. Saving the game saved the glitch. No battery cores will pop up for me to remove from the oxygen machines which means I can’t put out the flames. The only way around this is to start the game over completely.
To their defense…its my fault for only having one game save. As an RPG fan I understand the added benefit of saving multiple times in multiple places, but for linear shooters, I’ve never seen the purpose of doing that…well that is until now.
I spent last night in a crypt under a church in central london for a Dead Space 2 event where a guy in a mask and a fake gun stole my phone and the undead served me beer… a typical night out in London then.
At the event I was shown and was able to play an exclusive clip of Dead Space 2. I was also audience to a section of soundtrack by the appropriately named composer Jason Graves, he revealed the main chords for the piece they played consisted of D E A D. Christopher Shy was present to talk us through the creation of the
comic graphic novel Dead Space Salvage and Brian Evenson read an extract from his Dead Space Martyr the novel. Christopher Judge of Stargate SG1 fame along with Stargate Continum and erm… A Dog’s Breakfast was also present to talk about Dead Space Aftermath a new animated film in the same vein as Dead Space Downfall.
Dead Space 2 will contain a code to unlock a special set of Isaac Clarke inspired armor for the upcoming Dragon Age 2. This armor looks great as seen in the video above, and the pictures below.
Electronics Arts, the company behind Dead Space 2 has started a viral advertisement that takes advantage of criticism aimed at the game due to excessive gore to create buzz before its January 25th release date. It reminds me of a very successful viral campaign that was done for “The Last Exorcism”(Video). The video can be seen below:
Here is a live action video of Issac back at the Visceral Office. If I worked there I’d probably do the same thing, lol. Dead Space 2 is out on 1/25/2011 in the US and 1/28/2011 in Europe. Check out these two other videos that they created as commercials for the game after the jump.
