CFW App Permits Loading PC Mods for Oblivion and Fallout 3
Posted by premiersoupir in Fallout 3, Firmware, Firmware Updates, PS3, PS3 software, QuickNews on January 29th, 2011
Remember how we reported that Portal 2 will make the innovative step of allowing mods built on the PC to be imported to the PS3 and 360 versions of the game? Perhaps inspired by this idea, independent developers have created a jailbreak/custom firmware application that allows one to import Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3 mods from the PC to the PS3. This is important news, as mods are one of the main reasons that people buy titles on the PC in preference to a console. Also, this is one of the first exciting applications to come out of the CFW world, which has hitherto been devoted to giddy “Hello, world” apps; ports of emulators for older consoles; and, of course, game backups (which may permit illegal copying and distribution of software). Check out the video demonstration [edit: video removed] of Oblivion mod loading or read the news item. Note: PS3Blog.net does not recommend use of CFW: Not only is it a violation of the PS3 EULA, but CFW users face possible banning measures by Sony, as we recently reported.
Fallout: New Vegas Teaser Trailer
Teaser. Teaser never changes. Not much info to go with this trailer I’m afraid apart from a release date of “Fall 2010″ ad the fact its not being developed by the same team that did Fallout 3 but instead by Obsidian Entertainment who did the earlier ?Fallout games that were set on the west coast. More info after the jump;
Fallout 3: GOTY Ships!
I know there are a ton of other amazing, high quality titles shipping right now, but I’m surprised this game is getting such a quiet release.

The “Game of the Year Edition” is a new disc release with the same Fallout 3 from last year plus ALL of the following expansion packs:
- Broken Steel
- Operation: Anchorage
- The Pitt
- Point Lookout
- Mothership Zeta

Wow, that is a nice deal! Each one of these looks like a substantial, high quality, and well reviewed product. Even more unexpected is that these expansion packs just came out as downloadable extras for the PS3 (they’ve been gradually released for the 360 and PC over the past year). This is a really nice deal, and I’m surprised that it’s released simultaneously with the PC/360 versions.
If you haven’t played Fallout 3: it’s great. Check out a full impressions post here. It’s probably the best RPG on any platform outside of the MMO sub-genre, with the only real contender being the recently released (in US/Europe), Demon’s Souls.
Wow, what a great month for RPG fans!
Fallout 3 DLC update.
Posted by Trev in Fallout 3, PLAYSTATION Store on July 14th, 2009

So no Fallout 3 DLC has been released in June. Why? There seems to be no specific reason but at least it is still coming. Now “scheduled” for a September release PS3 gamers can look forward to getting Broken Steel first which lifts the level cap to 30 and then the other chapters; Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Point Lookout and the most exciting; Mothership Zeta.
Its a shame its been delayed but i can only hope it means the DLC is released without any bugs that the PC and 360 versions have so prominently featured. Mothership Zeta sounds well worth the wait though with new weapons and teaming up with fellow abductees. Bethesda has confirmed that “this was always the last one we had planned to do.”
Fallout 3 Expansions Coming to PS3!
Until now, the three released Fallout 3 expansions and the upcoming expansions have been Xbox 360 exclusives. Now, Bethesda has announced that all of these expansions will be multi-platform and coming to the PS3 as well.
Expansion Packs
- Operation Anchorage
- The Pitt
- Broken Steel
- Point Lookout
- Mothership Zeta
These downloadable packs will start coming out in June. In October, a disc-based Fallout 3 GOTY edition ships with the game and all five expansions.
EDIT: These expansions were already available for PC. Thanks guys!
