Is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete Worth It?

Blu-ray

I decided to “upgrade” my copy to the Blu-ray version. Man I’m glad I did, the visual quality is outstanding. Plus the extra scenes (26 minutes worth) really help complete the story actually. Some small details you’ll notice is the characters now get bloody and dirty during the battles. More so during the Sephiroth battle.

So is it worth it? I say yes. It’s only $22.99 right now at Amazon so that’s not bad. It was the 2nd best selling Blu-ray during it’s first week of release in America too.

According to the Nielsen VideoScan BD charts, the film trailed the #1 BD release, Paramount’s Defiance film, by only 14% in sales.

Advent Children Complete reportedly sold over 100,000 copies on its first day in Japan in April, although there were three different versions issued in that country on that day. The original North American and European DVD releases of Advent Children sold 1.4 million copies as the #1 anime DVD release of 2006.

The extras aren’t bad either. They have 2 or 3 videos that give you a brief overview of the actually game. Showing some of the CGI movies and gameplay from FFVII and other titles relating to FFVII as well. I myself got board watching them after a while though. Then an back story of Denzel, which is Anime not CGI, which as good.

Final Fantasy VII: ACC Was #2 U.S. BD in First Week

Follow Up and New Info on Final Fantasy XIV Online!

Logo

There have been several interviews that followed the SE E3 Conference and there are some juicy details to share.

First I’d like to uncover some incorrect assumptions that everyone on the internet seems to follow. Sony never claimed that FFXIV would be exclusive. What Jack said was “Playstation 3 will be the only console that you can play Final Fantasy XIV on when it releases in 2010.” This basically implies that the PS3 is the only console…for now. I hope that clears it up some.

I have also taken the HD trailer and formatted it for the PS3 so if you want, feel free to download it Here and put it on your PS3 so you can see how it will look.

Lastly before the new information, to sign up for the newsletter (and I what I personally believe will be the gateway to getting into the beta) go Here

Alright, to the goodies!

First up…from 4Gamer

- FF14 project (coded name : rapture) was started 4 years old. At that time, it might be called FF15.. if SE is working on FF13, and FF14 for the offline version of FF series.

– Eorzea. is a continent / place name. The world will be called ハイデリン (HADELN) .

– They will add in some Science Fiction element like those in FF10 and FF13 on this game. It will be a total different type of fantasy compare to FF11.

– It will use Square Enix ID Account system as to replace the pol system. 30 days unit payment system.

– No selling in-game item planned.

– All races from FF11 will be included in FF14. We cant tell you got other new races or not. at this moment.

– Regarding job system., the keyword is [ Weapon ] . To enrich our new job system, we will put in weapon elements into it.

– There will be High Level job system.

– There wont be experience point level system on FF14. (updated, my mistake)

– We are thinking to have character names (from FF11) transfer service.

– Battle system will be focusing more on real time. Timing will be a very important factor.

– The selling point for FF14 is [ Growth] ..

– All song will be composed by Nobuo Uematsu. 5.1ch sound.

– The leviathan like monster will have a important role.

– The field that cast by blm ? we saw on the trailer, will be as a part of the battle system too.

– Many Vs Many.. = Mob will be party to fight the player too.

– PC spec requirement will be quite high.

– Server max population will be 5- 6000 players.

– Service will be available on 2010. Beta test wont be as long as WOW where they have their beta test like 9 months.

– It might have Full voice.

– There will be a better system then field of valor. For example, i login today, i can do this. i login tomorrow, i can do that.. etc..

– No PVP system.

– Got Time element, such as four season.

– They want to make a benchmark for FF14.

– They are still discussing with MS , on working for a 360 Release.

FFXIV

Next Up! IGN

– Square Enix has also revealed to IGN that it is currently finding a solution that will let you transfer your character’s names from FFXI to FFXIV.’

– the heavy team-play aspect of FF11 has been deemphasized, and now exploration and battle is said to be more balanced between solo and team play.’

– Square Enix is cagey about how characters advance, but it has confirmed with IGN that growth is not based on experience and that it will work on a different system entirely.’

– Square Enix revealed to IGN that Uematsu will be doing all the music for Final Fantasy XIV and that it will be composed in a range of different styles and genres.’

– Are Chocobos back?Yes, they will return. But Square Enix has told IGN that it is looking at using them in a completely different way than they were used in Final Fantasy XI (where they were used as riding steeds).

– Beta plans are still being finalized, but that the plan is to have a longer beta period than that of FFXI (which had a beta of about 3-4 months).’

– How important are the weapons?
Weapons are very important and have a heavy influence on your character and how they succeed in the game world. Square Enix says to look closely at the official FFXIV logo for hints and hidden meanings about how the game will work.

– What hidden meanings?
Square Enix told us that when it approached Amano to do the logo art for FFXIV, that weapons were very important and to think of the concept of a “wheel.” Specifically, a wheel of adventurers that has their weapon in front of them and an exposed backside — which leaves each adventurer to rely heavily on their comrades and their friends. Let the speculation begin.

– Anything else about the weapons?
The team let slip to us that choosing weapons for specific tasks one day versus another could affect how your character develops.

– Character growth is a key word for FF14, and we will focus more on allowing the character to grow outside of only battles. For instance the character may grow through the story.”

English FF7 Advent Children Complete Trailer and release date

Here is the English version and man the voices are horrible. I’m so glad the Japanese audio with English subs are going to be on it.

The release date is June 2nd, 2009. If you pre-order from Amazon it’s $22.99 instead of $38.96. It says it comes with sneak peak at FF13, but not sure if that’s the demo that Japan got or not. Regardless I’m getting this, it will look amazing on Blu-ray! I’ve refused to watch it again until I get the Blu-ray.

It’s been a long wait but it’s almost here, it’s worth it alone for the extra footage and the high definition goodness.
