Warhawk – Operation: Omega Dawn pack
Posted by T0SH in PS3 software, W, ZGame Profiles on November 26th, 2007
The dropship rumor turned out to be true! The KT-424 Combat Dropship can carry 1 pilot, 7 soldiers and a ground vehicle at once, and it’s packing some firepower too. It has a MBEC-3 Heavy Support Cannon. Also all the maps are being modified to include the dropship. Man the KT-424 Combat Dropship sounds like fun! Plus there is a new map “Omega Factory”, which takes place at night and is the largest map yet! It will arrive this December on the PLAYSTATION®Network. I think I’ve added another gaming present to my list to give myself this holiday season
Operation: Omega Dawn pack features:
Set at night for added impact and tension, the Operation: Omega Dawn pack for Warhawk™ features an enhanced level of teamwork, tactics and coordinated aerial assaults with the new KT-424 Combat Dropship.
- Omega Factory battlefield includes 5 new map layouts featuring advanced building complexes and huge industrial towers.
- KT-424 Combat Dropship transports 1 pilot, 6 soldiers and 1 ground vehicle; and features a deadly new weapon – the MBEC-3 Heavy Support Cannon.
- The 5 large layouts from the original battlefields have been modified to include the KT-424 Combat Dropship.
- All this in one single download from PLAYSTATION Network this December
Warhawk Patches
Posted by Blackstaffer in PS3 software, W on October 22nd, 2007

There are two patches coming for Warhawk on the PS3. The v1.1 patch is mostly a bug-fix patch. But the v1.2 patch (due in December) will have some new features:
Patch v1.2 includes:
* 5 New layouts.
* Clan game server option.
* Buddy slot reservations.
* Integrated Warhawk Store.
* Updated CTF capture/return behavior.
* Internal stat padder protection.
* Booster Pack status display at join game list.
* DualShock3 integration.
* Separate SIXAXIS motion control on/off per mode (ground, hover, flight).
* Detailed Player Score display at end of game fixed.
* Added new server type filters (player, ranked, dedicated, clan, Official Warhawk, etc).
* Added new server full/open filter.
* Fall damage exploit fixed.
* Dismount into walls exploit fixed.
* Invisible Tank, Turret & Warhawk exploit fixed.
* Auto-kick of idle players.
* Add to Favorites button added to end game screen.
* Increased VOIP volume when not using headset.
Cool stuff! I like the new layouts for smaller games. Though I would have liked new maps (for free) even more!
Rumor Time: Warhawk Expansion Pack coming December?
Posted by T0SH in PS3 software, W, ZGame Profiles on October 17th, 2007
There is word that Warhawk will get a huge update for the holidays. It will include new vehicles, and a dropship that can airlift vehicles across the map, and can even shoot missiles. No word on maps, but I hope they include at least 2 more. This would be great if it was true, just in time for the Christmas LAN party
And could this be the drop ship? This image is from the early trailers of the game. What if there was a new game mode about the dropships? For example, you have to destroy the opponents dropship(s) before they destroy yours, sounds fun to me.

Warhawk: My 7+4=11 List
Posted by Blackstaffer in PS3 software, W on September 7th, 2007
You may or may not know this, but I was a participant in the Warhawk beta. I enjoyed the game, sure, but the experience was woefully short-lived – the beta only lasted a month! So I finally got my Warhawk fix last night after having to wait for the game to come in the mail. Is it still good? Yup, it sure is. I decided to make some lists of things I like and don’t like about Warhawk on the PLAYSTATION 3:
What I like about Warhawk:
- Ground Combat
When I first heard that Incognito was adding ground combat to Warhawk, a flying game, I was like “What the…?” But it works very well, and it’s a lot of fun. You can run around, drive a jeep, drive a tank, or fly a Warhawk. And it’s all fun. If you want, you can choose to enter a dogfight-only game, if you really like the flying. - Good Balance
Others have said it much better than I can, but I’ll mention it anyway. This game is very well balanced. You don’t feel like any particular weapon or vehicle has a huge advantage over everything else. There’s always something you can do with what you have. - Nice Graphics
No, I didn’t say outstanding or fabulous or eat-my-blender-awesome. But they’re nice, and there’s nothing to complain about. One of the coolest things about MotorStorm is the long draw distances, and the same thing is true here. Warhawk has good draw distances and I have yet to notice any pop-in. - Zones
I find myself gravitating towards the Zones mode of play. Deathmatch (in any shooter) bored me a long time ago, and I rarely bother with team deathmatch anymore unless I’m just looking for a quick fix. But in Warhawk, Zones is the way to go. There’s strategy involved, which I like. I’m not a very good shooter player – my reflexes just can’t keep up. But last night I usually placed in the middle of the pack (as opposed to the bottom) because of all my flag captures. It’s very satisfying. - Free Headset
I bought the game for $39.99Cdn, and it came with a free headset. That’s tough to beat. - Splitscreen Support
I certainly can’t miss this one! Warhawk has great splitscreen support both offline and on. I just wish some of the text was easier to read… - Exclusivity
I know it’s childish of me, but I like the fact that only PS3 users get this awesome experience.
Things I don’t like about Warhawk:
- Dying Without Warning
I don’t like flying happily along and then dying without warning. It’s no fun. If I get a lock warning, or I hear bullets flying around me, or something, then that’s okay. I just don’t like it when I have no warning or recourse whatsoever when I die. - Status Updating
After I played last night (on Sony servers), I went to check out my stats and they weren’t there.
- Chat Quality
The quality of the voice chat in Warhawk isn’t very good. Could Insomniac please share the code they used in Resistance with everyone else? Please? - Team Killers
It hasn’t happened to me yet, but I know it will. I don’t see anyway of punishing and removing team killers. It would be nice if there was a punish/forgive system whereby too many punishments gets someone permanently kicked form a game.
So there you have my lists. What are yours?
My Warhawk is Grounded – 1.92?
Posted by Blackstaffer in PS3 software, W on September 6th, 2007
Usually when I buy a PS3 game, I try to get it the day it is released. FutureShop usually has new games for $10 off the regular price, so I usually pick it up there on the way home. This time was different. BestBuy.ca had the retail version of the game on their online store for just $39.99, so I couldn’t pass that up. But it did have to wait for it to be delivered.

Yesterday, I finally got it in the mail. Yay! But I didn’t get to play it last night because I was going to a friend’s place for games night. Boo! But this morning before work I finally got a chance to try it out, really quick. Yay! But it didn’t work! Boo!
When I tried to connect online, I got a “Network Timeout” message, or somesuch. I tried it a couple times, to no avail. After reading the article below from PS3Fanboy, I have to wonder if the 1.92 update is the cause.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Network issues with 1.92? Sony is aware and trying to fix it
[Edit: This might also be the problem. It looks like the Warhawk servers were undergoing maintenance.]
