Due to Sebastian Vettel winning the 2011 F1 World Championship, the Red Bull X2010 (arguably the fastest car in the game) has been gifted to all players of GT5. It is only available for a limited time, however, so if you haven’t had the means to get it yet, here’s your chance!
There is also a chance to win 5 million credits with a new seasonal event featuring the car, and the track (Suzuka circuit), so be sure to check that out, too!

With over 1,000 cars, 26 different locations, and 71 different tracks available in the game, Gran Turismo 5 is easily PlayStation’s most respected and exclusive racing simulator. The game was developed by Polyphony Digital and published by SCE, then released on November 24th, 2010 as the first entry of the Gran Turismo series to be developed for the PS3.
As the release date of the Xbox 360 exclusive racer, Forza Motorsport 4, is closing by, questions were rising of what team Polyphony Digital has been up to? The answer came shortly after …
In a series of twitter messages, Gran Turismo Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi started to reveal more of a Gran Turismo 5 major, FREE update to be released in the second week of October. The major update, entitled “Spec 2.0”, will answer some of the fans requests, including a few technical patches and improve some of the game features.
David Coulthard Pips Gran Turismo Gamers By Half A Second
Posted by Madagasca in Gran Turismo 5 on September 9th, 2011

On Monday, 05 September, 2011, Formula 1TM ace David Coulthard was thrilled to take victory in an innovative Mercedes-Benz virtual reality race staged simultaneously at two locations in Surrey, England. Driving a real-life 6.3 litre V8 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, ‘DC’ completed a 15 minute shoot-out around the Dunsfold track, home to BBC Top Gear. Up against him were six drivers in the virtual Gran Turismo(R)5 version of the SLS AMG racing on the same track but from the comfort of Mercedes-Benz World at Brooklands in Surrey.
With a live-feed from both locations being broadcast on the Mercedes-Benz website, the stakes were high. Coulthard was keen to uphold the honour of his profession while the gamers were keen to upstage the master and win a trip for two to attend the Brazilian Formula 1 Grand Prix as guests of Mercedes-Benz.

GT5 Tournament Delayed Until July 31st
Posted by Jay in Game Night, Gran Turismo 5, QuickNews on July 24th, 2011
Unfortunately, the GT5 tournament has been delayed until next Sunday (same time) due to a couple participants not being able to make it (leaving us with only 3 competitors). Because of the delay, I have decided to also open up signups for a couple days. If interested, you can do so here. Be sure to read the requirements for eligibility. The only unlisted restriction I have is no sports cars that are almost 500PP stock, including the NSX, as, for some reason, they still have an unfair advantage. The timer shows the new countdown until the event.
Last Chance for GT5 Tournament Signups!
Posted by Jay in Game Night, Giveaways, Gran Turismo 5, QuickNews on July 20th, 2011
Today is the last day for signing up for our first GT5 tournament, which is to take place this Sunday! Currently, we have 5 people ready to race, so the odds of winning one of the prize cars is VERY good (3/5). If you want to join, be sure to reply here. Right now, with only 5 people, 1st place will get the Corvette and 500 points for the site. If we get more signups, 1st place will get more points, as will all other places (up to 10th). You also get 150 participation points since it will take up a bit of time, but you must finish the tournament to receive any points.

Don’t forget, we still have our first GT5 tournament scheduled for the 24th, which is next Sunday (not this Sunday). You must have your entry in before the 20th, at which point I will set up a final post, including driver list, etc. Currently, we have 4 entries, with plenty of room for more! Don’t forget, you have the chance to win one of these babies. Hope to see you there!
Gran Turismo 5 ‘Christmas in July’ Tournament
Posted by Jay in Featured, Game Night, Giveaways, Gran Turismo 5 on July 6th, 2011
Yes, it is finally here! For those who have been waiting for our first GT5 tournament since its original announcement in December, I have finally gotten around to getting everything set up. If you remember, it was supposed to have taken place on the 26th of December, but my PS3 had YLOD’d on the 25th, hence the name of the tournament.
With that said, since the game has received numerous updates since then, there have been a few changes made to it that I think will be of great benefit for the community (the performance points system, for instance, will now allow you more freedom in car choice). We also have a couple more prize cars to throw in there, as well as points for the site and everything. Be sure to check after the jump for a shot of the prize cars, as well as the rules.
Now, our very first tournament is set to go on July 24th, 8:00PM UK time (3PM Eastern, 12PM Pacific, pending any other possible plans between now and then).
