[Review] Jurassic Park: The Game Episode 1
Posted by EdEN in Featured, Jurassic Park: The Game, PS3, PS3 Reviews / Vita Reviews, PS3 software, PSN on February 8th, 2012
Jurassic Park, the groundbreaking Steven Spielberg film series has long been a franchise that our team at Telltale wanted to tackle. As a property Jurassic Park is a story of survival and interpersonal relationships under extreme circumstance, something that traditional game genres simply are not built to address authentically.
Our designers truly pushed our traditional design boundaries further than ever before to create a game to focus the experience on this story of survival. With a design laser focused to follow the franchise tenants like no other film based game has ever done it’s a format we’ve labeled as a cinematic adventure. A design built not for the hardcore gamer but rather for the hardcore Jurassic Park fan, one that has always dreamed of spending some time on Isla Nublar. The final product has been polarizing with traditional game critics, but one thing that just about everyone can agree on is Jurassic Park: The Game delivers on our original vision – an authentic and cinematic Jurassic Park experience.

Jurassic Park: The Game Looking Quite Promising

A while back, Telltale Games got the rights to create games based off of both Back to the Future and Jurassic Park universes. With Back to the Future: The Game having been finished (and being reviewed by EdEN), the promised Jurassic Park game is set to release on November 15th.
Out of all the trailers released for this game up to this point, they didn’t show too much, but I did find the death sequences video funny. This one is a little more intense. When I was a kid, dinosaurs were awesome, and when Jurassic Park released in 1993, my mind exploded. I still have some of that child-like curiosity, and because of that, I want to play this and hope it’s good.
It may not be my dream dinosaur game (a reboot of Capcom’s Dino Crisis franchise would be killer), but I’m hoping Telltale Games does good with it. I enjoyed Back to the Future at least.

A lot of you are familiar with Telltale Games’ adventure games, and recently, they gave the Back to the Future franchise the TTG treatment. Back when that was announced, they also made mention of the Jurassic Park franchise getting it as well.
Although it is still slated for PC only, there’s still a chance it will hit consoles, and given the nearly 12 minute gameplay-only video above, signs point to an almost definite possibility. It’s scheduled for a Fall 2011 release.
And for humor’s sake, after the jump I have another video showcasing some of the stupidly funny deaths, some of which were shown in the video above.
