Rockstar Games is hitting its stride now. Two straight games that are genre defining, and potentially revolutionary, they’ve released now, both of which to fan and critical acclaim. But which one is better? Team Bondi’s homage to film noire or Rockstar San Diego’s western classic?
I’ve already stated on this blog that Red Dead Redemption is among my favorite games of all time, and L.A. Noire was my most anticipated game of 2011. But, which game will I say is better?
I have to warn you, this post contains spoilers for both games. If you haven’t finished it, I suggest you wouldn’t read the “plot” section of this post.
PS and Rockstar have both just released the following statement:
“We have received a very small number of customer support questions about PS3s overheating or shutting down while playing L.A. Noire. At this time, Rockstar Games and Sony can confirm that neither L.A. Noire or firmware update 3.61 are causing the PS3 hardware to overheat. We are both committed to working hard to find solutions to this and any issues that may arise. If you are experiencing any issues with L.A. Noire or your PS3 hardware, please contact technical support using any of the means provided below:

I have been playing with no issues, however, while a screen is loading, I have noticed that I hear my disc, or HDD running more than usual. Anyone else have any issues with crashing or overheating?
So I never released this but I had it for a while now, actually since PAX East 2011. I was originally going to do an impressions but since the game is being released tomorrow and some reviews have started coming out I thought I would give you the voice cast right from the guys at RockStar Games.
This was actually pretty nice, it was just one other guy and I in the closed booth so we had a chance to really get a lot of time with the guys. We weren’t able to play the game but we were so close to all the action that we might as well have been.
This game makes me feel like I am watching an episode of Dragnet, not all of the corniness but the feel of being a cop back in the 1940’s, interrogating witnesses, putting clues together, fist fighting and the occasional car chases.
Once again loyal minions, time for another enthralling FooBear408 article. I’d like to think I’m the resident Andy Rooney around these parts…maybe just not as old and certainly not as grouchy. Definitely more handsome, and with the stockpile of jokes – I’m a pretty safe bet. Fortunately, for me – I have Mrs. FooBear, so I’m taken. I’ve also written on subjects including, but not limited to, my infatuation for my fat boy model 80gb to the current hot topic that’s lighting up the message boards today: the great PSN fiasco.
Don’t fret – this isn’t another one of those articles.
I’ve been doing some serious thinking about the state of gaming lately. Actually on some titles coming out, some types that are already out, and ones that right on the cusp of coming out. One of these titles, “L.A Noire”, for instance has got me hook, line, and sinker. I think the reason why this game has its meat hooks into me is because it’s original. It’s never been done before. I recognize that, and want to be part of it, so I can go on the message boards and shout from the rooftops about how much I want to be its baby’s daddy and/or completely blast it anonymously and tell everyone how much it stinks.
I don’t think that’ll be the case, though. Tell me I’m wrong.
