We’ve seen plenty of videos of ModNation’s “artist spotlight”, where people like Kevin Butler, Ted Price and David Jaffe “create” their own version of a track and character(s) in ModNation Racers. The new artist spotlight is none other than Kazunori Yamauchi, CEO of Polyphony Digital and creator/producer of the legendary Gran Turismo franchise. You would think they would of done this months ago, since he is the perfect candidate for this spotlight.
Most important to me, and probably many others, is the slashing of ridiculous load times. “Sony is reporting that in some cases those loads will be 50 percent faster.” To me this was almost a complete game killer, although it did give me time to get something to eat, use the restroom, and watch my favorite TV show while waiting to join a race. Seriously though, this might bring me back to playing more.

Can’t wait untill Twisted Metal hits the PS3 later this year? Then maybe this will tied you over. A great looking Sweet Tooth Mod and his Ice Cream Truck are being released today for ModNation Racers on the PSN for $1.99. More photos after the jump.
The ModNation Community site is now live. You’ll be able to check out top-rated Mods, tracks and karts, as well as view the leader boards. You can communicate with other players in the forums, too. San Diego Studio also plans on adding even more features in the future, but you can read more about it here.
ModNation Racers is a Playstation exclusive looking to do for kart racers what LittleBigPlanet did for platformers. With numerous customisations available from driver and car designs to constructing tracks, all of which can be shared online. There’s plenty on offer from ModNation Racers but is it king of the mods or just another kart game?
