If you’ve played any of the MotorStorm games on the PlayStation 3, you’re in for a real treat. Previous iterations of this ever popular franchise have provided gamers with many hours of entertainment, and now this monster of a game reaches out to MotorStorm fans on PlayStation’s newest arrival – the PS Vita.
When I first played MotorStorm RC, it was at the PlayStation Access Vita Rooms Party here in UK. I managed to catch up with Paul Rustchynsky (Evolution Studios Game Director), who gave me a quick run down on the game itself before letting me loose on their Vita to experience it first hand.
It has been well over a month since I last played this radio controlled riot, and once I managed to get my greasy mits onto a copy of the completed game, I couldn’t help but agree that this game was going to be a deal breaker for many a PS Vita adopter.
For those that have been gaming through the early 90’s – do you remember games such as Micro Machines or Ivan ‘Ironman’ Stewart’s Super Off Road? If you do, then you know exactly what to expect from MotorStorm RC. In fact – scrub that, you’re going to expect that AND MORE! If you haven’t played any of these games, get Googling to see what you’ve missed out on. They were THE games to play back in the day!
Last week, I was invited to an exclusive PS Vita Rooms Party here in the UK, and to be honest, it’s taken me all this time to digest everything to do with the event.
The PS Vita Rooms Party took place on Tuesday, 17th of January at 63 Deansgate – a highly popular stretch of road situated bang smack in the heart of Manchester, the city belonging to two of the world’s most admired football/soccer teams: Manchester City and Manchester United.
With the location guaranteeing maximum exposure for the PS Vita events in the North West of England, thousands of gamers filtered through the doors over 7 days to catch a glimpse of the console that has caused a stir over recent months.
With the event consisting of approximately 30-35 playable PS Vitas on two floors, approximately 10+ ‘launch day’ games on display, a DJ, free food & drinks, developers, and exclusive PS Vita accessories being showcased – you knew that this party was the place to be!
After the recent success of Motorstorm Apocalypse, Evolution studios has decided to release its second foray into the handheld genre, Motorstorm RC. The game has players controlling RC cars on sixteen tracks taken from all previous Motorstorm games. Its the best of both worlds, with an arcade-like racing experience, and modern day online compatibility. It will be released Spring 2012 as a PSN only downloadable title, but it will be playable on both the Vita and PS3, including a four-player split-screen mode on the PS3.
Split-screen has slowly been dying over the years, so it’s good to know that split-screen is being included in this downloadable title. Cross-platform play has not been confirmed, but it has been strongly hinted at. Game developers should take a hint and start bringing back this feature. More details after the jump
