As many of you know, I am a big fan of racing games. Laguna Seca is also one of my favorite tracks (and that’s awesome, as it is in pretty much any racing sim you can find). I was also a big fan of the first SHIFT title (despite a couple drawbacks). Unleashed, though, is looking like a whole other animal.
Here, we have a replay of a hot lap in a modified Corvette race car, driven by Tommy Milner, the winner of the Dubai 24hr. It shows off the track, and I gotta say, the game is looking damn sexy. It may not have the detail in the cars that we see in the likes of Forza or Gran Turismo, but, undoubtedly, as a whole, the game looks awesome (and, dare I say, it looks better overall than the aforementioned titles).
Mixed with the simulation approach of the SHIFT titles and the Need for Speed style, this is definitely one I am going to have to pick up. Not to mention, a lap time of 1:21:709 is pretty impressive.
Shift 2‘s overwhelming gameplay trailer proved that the developers at Slightly Mad Studios understand just how blood-tingling the experience can be from moment to moment, but this latest video is all about the mental side of racing. The trailer has a little bit of a surreal quality as it talks and shows via in-game footage how drivers have to know what they are doing when they enter a particularly complex corner on a race track.
Shift 2: Unleashed will have tons of corner smashing once it’s releases on March 29th, 2011.
The guys behind the SHIFT titles seem to be really pushing for their series to become a full-blown simulation title. Personally, I love that idea. I love the fact that it’s more stylized than games like GT and Forza (which I also like, but I also like variety). I would love to pick this one up.
A couple days ago, EA released this trailer, which shows off some of the stuff that’s exclusive to the Limited Edition version of the title (which most were actually revealed last month). If you’ve seen past trailers, in comparison, this one is mostly gameplay, and damn does it look good. Keep in mind, the Limited Edition is only available through pre-order!
