Posted by EdEN in Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, PSN, QuickNews on October 11th, 2010
You can go over to Just Add Water’s developer’s diary for Stranger’s Wrath to see what all they are doing. A lot of work is going into making this remake come up to the current gen standards. As an example, a head model went from 640 polygons to 2,900 polygons as well as getting a new coat of paint.
Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath Only on PS3?

Seems like Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath might only be making its way to the PS3 this coming Easter. According to Just Add Water they’ve received a good amount of flack for announcing that they are bringing back “Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath” revamped, for the PS3. Questions have been raised as to why the team has decided to make this a PS3 exclusive, others have asked why they aren’t making it for the Xbox, and others have asked the team not to be dicks, and support the 360.

The team responded with the following:
So what’s the story, whilst I can’t go into complete detail on this, I can tell you that we are NOT PS3 Exclusive. As far as we are concerned we are a multi-platform company, supporting the big 3, PC/PS3 & 360.
Stranger’s PS3 Model is Vastly Improved

Not too long ago, it was officially announced that the Oddworld XBox exclusive title, ‘Stranger’s Wrath’, will be heading to the PS3 next year. I’ve always wanted to play it, but never got around to even renting it unfortunately. Anyway, the developer, Just Add Water, has recently unveiled the updated model for the title character, Stranger.
The model is a jump from the original polygon count of 3,000 to 20,000, using newer rendering techniques like bump mapping, as well as, of course, updated textures. One thing to note, though, the PS3 model is almost on-par with the 529,000 polygon CGI model (at first glance, you can’t really see the difference). Hopefully we’ll see the same kind of work done to the rest of the game!
