Harmonix and MTV Games announced that next weeks DLC for Rock Band will include a four pack of Lady Gaga songs, as well as the cover of Poker Face by Eric Cartman of South Park. If you watch the video, you will see that the South Park kids are actually playing the song on Rock Band.
The “Lady Gaga Pack 01” will include the songs “Poker Face”, “Bad Romance,” “Just Dance,” and “Monster” and will be available for $6.99, £3.49 UK, €5.29 EU. The songs can be purchased individually for $1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU.
The Eric Cartman version of “Poker Face,” from the episode “Whale Whores,” will be available as an individual song only for $1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU. The episode will re-air on COMEDY CENTRAL March 16 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT, incase anyone needs some comic relief or time away from GOW3. The songs will be available in the Rockband Store, or the PS Store on March 18, 2010.
Although I am not a big fan of Lady Gaga, the Eric Cartman version of “Poker Face” is a must buy for me. I cant wait to surprise my Rockband friends by playing it next weekend!
Guitar Hero 1 started the phenomenon back in 2005 on the PS2. Between that and Rock Band in 2007, gamers saw a steady stream of improvements. The concept was fleshed out, they added drums and mics, tons of game modes and options, way more music and a-la-carte DLC, online functionality, better training features, HD graphics, and polish.
But since Rock Band 1, the improvements have been fairly obscure or niche. Mostly, we’ve seen new music tracks and various branded track packs. As much as I may love The Beatles or Metallica, I’m really not excited about hearing it in a colored-button music game. The game is still the same game I got my fill of two years ago.
Not surprisingly, U.S. revenue for Guitar Hero and Rock Band is down 49% year over year.
So, was the music genre just a fad that’s ended? Is it going to take a while for a new killer-idea to reignite interest in the genre?
Personally, I’m still waiting for a full-production game controllable by a full MIDI keyboard.
That’s right Stephen Colbert from “Colbert Report” has a music video for Rock Band called “Charlene” and it is a free download for PS3 & 360 users. I don’t have this game, but if I did this would be a instant download for me
