Fire Hose Games and Sony Online Entertainment are proud to present to us Slam Bolt Scrappers, a new and quirky puzzle/action game that is available on PSN for you to acquire (with money) and download (with the internets) to your PS3 HDD ASAP. Here are some fine words from them about this Frankestein (in a good way) creation:
Build and brawl in this fast and frantic mash-up – exclusively on the PlayStation®Network! Race your opponents to build the most powerful towers in Slam Bolt City while defending against
deceptively adorable baddies and hugely epic bosses. Create weapons that shoot lasers, drills, missiles, and more to annihilate your adversary. Battle in four-player co-op campaign mode, or go head-to-head for more brawling and block-building awesomeness.
* Build tons of devastating weapons
* Competitive multiplayer! Up to four players can join the brawl, fighting each other or computer-controlled enemies
* Cooperative campaign where up to four players work together to save the city, unlocking new weapons, levels, characters and hats along the way
* Unique gameplay combining building and brawling that is easy learn, but takes skill to master
* Tons of replayability from the many weapon options, built in challenges, multiplayer modes, and unique levels
Earlier today, I had the chance to go up to Boston and Interview the mastermind of Fire Hose Games, Eitan Glinert, also known as “Fire Chief”, about their first title, Slam Bolt Scrappers. While driving up there, I got a little bit lost; damn me for not updating the GPS. Eventually, I did manage to get to the studio, and it was nice to be greeted with open arms… kidding Alec.
All jokes aside, from the team members that I did meet, all of them were cool; even their Chief Canine Officer, Tesla (photo of her below). I sat down and was offered a drink. Since I just got there and Eitan was taking care of business on the internetz, I accepted. After a few minutes, Eitan asked Nico, the brains behind all the animation, to let me try out the game. Right from the start, I liked it; the controls were simple, the game seemed to be really fluid, and you could pawn your friends; talk about winning! Once Nico finished showing me the game, Eitan and I talked about the studio, the game, and just how it all came together.
Not sure how many of you have seen this came but here’s a little game called Slam Bolt Scrappers. It’s going to be released in early 2011 and it’s going to be a PS3 Exclusive. This is also the first of hopefully many for the Fire Hose Games Team.
