ModNation Racer comes with 4 player split screen

According to Kotaku it’s thanks to all the Beta testers. Next to submitting more then a thousand bugs, the Beta testers called for four player split screen. Now we get it, I know a lot of people will be happy about it, not in the least our very Mod Nation Racersown BlackStaffer.

Four player split screen was a standard feature about a decade ago. With the next gen consoles it got scratched, because of the “Everyone has an internet connection at home, so you should use that instead” mentality. I for one am not such a person. Everyone on this site knows I don’t game online too much. I do find it fun to play a game with a friend at my place. That’s why I own games like SingStar and Buzz, they offer great group value.

To those that were in the Beta and requested this feature: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

PlayStation Move takes up very little memory

One of the PlayStation Move demos at GDC shows full body tracking using an on-screen body puppet. It does it by combing the Move and the PlayStation Eye. The PS Eye can detect faces, even recognize gender, age, smiles and if your eyes/mouth are open or not. There isn’t a video that I could find of this exact demo. But it sounds pretty similar to this post I made back in September 2009.

GDC 2010: Move B-Roll and Image Galleries

B-Roll

Here’s the B-roll that was mentioned in one of my other posts. To save time and space, I am combining images and whatnot from games listed in the b-roll as well. Some of these games look rather cool actually (The Shoot looks extremely fun!). Since we already know a bit about EyePet, I excluded new images for that, since there really isn’t anything new from those anyway. Enjoy!

The Shoot
Move Party
TV SuperStars
Motion Fighter
Sports Champions

GDC 2010: Motion Fighter

NewsThere was a demonstration of this game done during the press conference (and was shown in the B-Roll trailer). It uses the motion controller to control your fighter’s punches and position. Might be pretty fun, save for the douchey looking fighters :P . Not much more information on the game, except that this is still a working title.

GDC 2010: High Resolution PlayStation Move Shots

NewsWell, after the announcement earlier, Sony has also sent the press High Resolution shots of both the Move and the sub controller. I chose to use side and front profiles as well as with hands so you get the idea of controller layout, etc. Not much to see on the back portions of the controllers. The controllers will contain Li-Ion batteries that are built in and rechargeable just like the DualShock 3 and Sixaxis. Be sure to check the gallery! Had to scale their size down, though. Original images were 4800×3798

PlayStation Move sub controller adds an analog stick, directional buttons and two face buttons into the PlayStation Move’s control scheme. In addition, the sub-controller contains the L1 button, L2 button and L3 button for actions and commands common in advanced gaming.

PlayStation Move Official – GDC Press Conference Recap and Replay

Well, Sony’s press conference had just ended, with an interview with Jack Tretton. First up, the name, as mentioned earlier by Tosh, is definitely PlayStation Move. Of course, the device will be released this fall. Sony will be releasing both the standalone controllers, as well as a bundle, which includes the controller plus the PlayStation Eye, for an MSRP of $99.99.

The controller also comes with a secondary piece of hardware, which connects wirelessly, called the “sub controller”. I guess they ran out of name ideas. Anyway, this device contains a control interface to allow you to move around a play field, etc, in the same vein as the “nunchuck” on the Wii. It also connects wirelessly. It appears, though, that you need two of the controllers for both to have motion sensing, but I missed whether or not the bundle would include the second one.

GDC 2010: Sports Champions for the PlayStation Move Announced

News

The Playstation Game Developers Conference verified the recent post by Tosh, that Sony’s new motion controller is indeed known as the Sony Move. Scott Rohde then announced that “Sports Champions” will be one of the first games for the Sony Move. They demonstrated Gladiator Duels and Ping Pong from the game.

Holding dual Moves, the demonstrator Jeremy, had a hammer in one hand and a shield in the other. The motions seemed really good and actually impressed me. There was also some humor, as Jeremy’s character was a big man, fighting a skinny woman. This new controller definitely looks impressive, and will be a must buy for those of us with kids.
