The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been on my “most anticipated titles of 2011″ since I first heard of it, so anything related to that game makes me really excited, however, it had been a couple months since I had seen something substantial about it. This has now changed.
Bethesda published at their forum a Q & A made from fan questions, there are 25 points discussed in total, and I suggest everyone slightly interested in the game to read that.
In my opinion these are the most interesting/new things I’ve seen on the interview:
I managed to get a interview with Brian Singh, who is a technical game designer at thatgamecompany. This was a impromptu interview, so it’s not very organized & it was loud in the room. So I apologize for that.
I didn’t get a chance to play the demo before they started to close things down. But it did watch somebody play most of the demo. The demo starts with a low view of the desert and you can see the sand crystals sparkle and it’s a very stunning visually. When you walk around on the desert it reacts kind of like water, it ripples when you go past it. Instead of me just rambling on, I’ll just let the interview above explain it in more detail. But it’s going to be a must buy for me. It looks like another winner from thatgamecompany.
White Knight Chronicles was an excellent RPG with an amazing Multiplayer component. The village mode in the first one was so simple and yet so very deep. Did you miss the first installment? Don’t worry, as part 2 and 1 ship on the same Blu-ray disc! The Sony Blog sat down with the director Yoshiaki Kusuda to get the details behind this excellent series.
Hey Elder Scrolls fans (and/or those looking forward to Skyrim), Todd Howard of Bethesda was interviewed about the game (with the interview being roughly translated to English here), and when asked about the number of dragons being a set number, he responded with:
No, there is an unlimited number of dragons. One of our designers actually put in a random event I encountered, where I ended up being chased by three dragons and I thought “who the hell did this?” I felt like Frodo in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and was really frightened. So I asked him to remove it. But no, dragons are generated automatically (in addition to that there are a number of specific encounters, of course).
Further into the interview, the interviewee asked whether players could ride dragons or not, with Todd’s response being:
Have we considered it? Yes. Do we allow it right now? No. But we can decide to support it at some point.
Imagine how cool that would be for a minute. Although I am not much of an RPG fan, if they allowed you to actually ride dragons, I’d definitely check the game out. There are a ton of other details, including how the dragons do speak their own language, while a few of them can also be understood by your character, but they didn’t delve into details like that very much, but it’s still an interesting read for sure.
Expect to see it in stores this November.
