My fat ps3 (launch model with BC) died last week :(

Repairing from Sony would cost a bunch of money, I've decided to buy a brand new slim instead !

I hope it runs quieter and cooler !

The lack of Linux support doesn't make any difference anymore (thanks for that, Sony!). The main drawback now is the lack of USB ports (2 vs. 4) — and possibly a card reader? You can, however, accessorize to regain some of those features: http://www.datel-japan.co.jp/lineup/japanese/ps3/p…..index.html

I'm planning to get a 250 gig slim with madden 11 for free from best buy because my ps3 got YLOD. Hopefully the slim doesn't get YLOD either but im not taking any chances im getting a 3 year warrenty lolconfused

@premiersoupir That's pretty cool, I've never seen that product before. Wish it had 4 USB ports but still pretty sweet.

Yeah, four would be better than three, but I guess it's nice that they're up front — that's where I want to plug in most devices, like thumb drive (which I use all the time to play video) as well as the occasional mouse & keyboard. Doesn't much matter where I plug in Eye or external harddrive.

Ya, I'd love to see 2 USB ports in back 2 in front.

That USB based product is interesting since it adds back what was taken after the PS3 launch models were discountinued.

So far I've enjoyed my Slim since November and have to say it was a great purchase. Still, my electricity bill doubled because of all the energy the PS3 takes so buyer beware.

I thought the new PS3's use less energy than FAT PS3's?

They use less energy, but they still use waaaay too much energy. 1 month of PS3 use equals 3 months of Wii use and thus my electricity bill doubled. Using the PS3 as a Bluray player uses a lot of energy.
