Quotehello, so i have a small problem. my ps3 looks great when i play games, but anytime i watch a movie on dvd or netflix, it dosent matter what movie all of them. it comes out blurry. it looks like a vhs tape. i have a 720p hd tv and im using the hdmi cable and i have the ps3 set to that. and game play is great but any movie is horrible. anyone know of a setting or something that can solve this dum little prob?

I have the exact same problem! Perfect playing games, Blu-ray movies are great, but all the DVD's I play are blurry????? Did you find any solutions??

Mine recently started having this problem as well. Anything in SD looks like something that was filmed in the 80's. LOTR used to look great on DVD but now I have noticed a significant drop in quality. Very strange…
I think there is a upscaling option in the settings menu. XMB – Settings – Video (or playback or dvd) (Dont have mine on right now to be sure what it is under, sorry) Play around with the scaling options in there until you get a picture you like. I have a 60" 1080p and everything looks great on it. Except for Streaming movies. My internet is not fast enough for HD quality movies.
