I figured out what my issues were. My tv seemed to reset it's picture settings back to the factory defaults. A little tweaking and it looked back to the way I liked it!

I agree, check your upscale settings. I have never had DVD playback issues, but have the upscale turned on.

I think there is a upscaling option in the settings menu. XMB - Settings - Video (or playback or dvd) (Dont have mine on right now to be sure what it is under, sorry) Play around with the scaling options in there until you get a picture you like. I have a 60" 1080p and everything looks great...

Mine recently started having this problem as well. Anything in SD looks like something that was filmed in the 80's. LOTR used to look great on DVD but now I have noticed a significant drop in quality. Very strange...

I have the exact same problem! Perfect playing games, Blu-ray movies are great, but all the DVD's I play are blurry????? Did you find any solutions??

hello, so i have a small problem. my ps3 looks great when i play games, but anytime i watch a movie on dvd or netflix, it dosent matter what movie all of them. it comes out blurry. it looks like a vhs tape. i have a 720p hd tv and im using the hdmi cable and i have the ps3 set to that. and game play...
