My idea is to copy all my information as a backup on an external hd then when i get my new ps3 I would use the system restore to get my stuff back that way. is this method good or a no no?
And I remmeber you are able to transfer information from one ps3 to another so I was wondering how that would work?
One more thing would I be able to just put my old hd into the new machine and ittle work ( I.E like a plug and play mouse )
If there is anything else I need to know please tell me and thank you in advance.
A lot of the PS3 data is locked to that specific motherboard and HDD, so if you have any games and the like, you'll have to redownload those. Save files it depends, since some games are also locked to that PS3 (and have caused a lot of complaints in their own right). The problem lies with DRM and the PS3 using a proprietary file system that essentially "marries" that data to that specific hardware setup unfortunately.
