I've heard stories about using those other types with the cleaning thingies on the disc for a BR lens. Not recommended.
I checked around the net and it seems the game freezes for some other people to. Deleting my game data is supposed to work or buying another copy..or wait for ND to address the...

I think a standard one would work just the same. After all, the PS3 still has to read CDs and DVDs the same way any other cd/dvd player does.
