The same thing happened to me last March and my NBA live 10 got stuck inside. To get it out I used the hair dryer and fan trick to fix the YLOD. Which is to heat up the ps3 with a hair dryer for 15 minutes, then cool it off with a fan for 10 minutes. The YLOD is then fixed and should be fixed temporarily untill it overheats again. This obviously will give you time to eject. Worked for me 😀
I had the same problem with my 80gb a week ago. I am just going to invest in a slim but is there a way to get saved game data off my 80gb with the ylod?
You could go to gophermods.com and get this service to have the RSX reflowed (to temporarily fix the YLOD; Tosh had it done and it's still lasting him quite a while) so you can do a transfer of everything onto the slim and still have a system that might work for you a bit longer. Would probably be the best way to go since many games are locked to the system itself
Forgot to update you guys after the break in period. Which happened a few weeks ago. Be slowing running it longer and longer. No issues at all. Longest play time so far is 6 hours.
Well tonight I was watching a DVD movie and it shut off and blinked red ...
Turned it back on, watched a bit more and it did it again. I'm still within my extended 6 month warranty with gophermods. So hopefully they can repair it... I'm awaiting to hear back from them.
Had this very same problem MAG was in my ps3 when it ylod'd. bought another one and put the ylod one back in the box for a while, got brave last night and took it apart still couldnt get the game out so i tried the hairdryer trick, worked straight away, got my disc out not that its any good to me seen as mag is online only
vacuum your ps3's
I do actually .. anyway I sent this offer to them this morning. So ETA is this Wednesday, so my guess is I'll get it back around May 25th ... :/
Not sure if I want to keep it after this point. Tempted to go Slim ...
a trick ive seen on you tube is to simply turn the power off to your ps3 (unplug lead on slim), hold the eject button (dont let go) and turn the power on. this ejects the disk but it dont fix the ylod but atleast you get your game back. be carefull not to shock yourself on a slim and as for your data i back my saves up once a week onto a flash drive but this dont work for all games burnout paradise is a prime example.
What do you mean? If you live in the states, I recommend http://www.gophermods.com/ You don't have to call anyone and can do everything online. That's how I had my YLOD fixed.
