Here's what I want to know about upgrading your HD.

I have one PS3 so it's not like i can swap out the HD and then do the ethernet cable link update thing. How do you preserve your data on a single HD? Do i need to buy a 2.5inch case to store the old HD and then do a restore or what have you?

the only problem is some games still bottleneck the installation speed on an HDD. Well, in MGS4's case anyway. Not sure of other titles have similar problems, but it definitely would be a lot better if SSD's became cheaper and standard. Less moving parts means more reliable anyway.

Sounds pretty cool to me. I can't wait until huge SSD Hard Drive are more affordable.

Does anyone know if this SSD Hybrid could be an interesting option? The price is tempting and I've heard good things about SSD drives performance on the PS3.

it's just a precaution, but 7200 might be fine. I don't think there was but maybe a few minor cases where a 7200 failed, but the same could be said about 5600. Either should work, but I was just saying most people recommend a 5600RPM drive based solely on original PS3 specs

5600 and 7200 RPM HDDs apparently will both work, but the general consensus is to use the stock 5600RPM as a "better safe than sorry" precaution. I've got a 500GB HDD. Just make sure you have a FAT32 external HDD you can back your old HDD data to so you can recover everything onto the new one.
