yeah at its current state it still take a second or two for XMB to load fully while gaming
software wise I'm actually ok. i don't really need more media server support. I would like Mkv support but i'm ok with what i have right now.
but you remind me of osmething. Dynamic themes. If you're a company putting out a sponsored static theme.... **** you. How dare you insult me. I haven't tried it on yet but if that bloody Uncharted 3 theme is static I'm gonna sit down and write aletter to someone about how stupid they are. F that.
The ps3 needs to get with the times of apps and live tv. they are falling behind microsoft faster and faster. I am a die hard ps3 fan but the xmb hasn't changed since its inception and the inability to access live tv and other free media platforms is a waste of such a great technology. Ps3 needs to reclaim its standing as an innovator and front runner in gaming instead of waiting for someone else to nudge them into creating change. Its sad to say but I play my Xbox 360 more often than my ps3. And WTF is home? Lame attempt at a second life clone. Sad Sony Sad...... Maybe they will get it right with PS4? If not, ps3 will be the last gen console I spend $500 dollars for from Sony. Xbox has a voice and motion activated dash releasing Dec.6th in time for the holidays and selling for $199 for a 4g kinect bundle. PS3 still over rated and over priced. PS3 needs a revamp of a dust cover in my house.

I don't know about over rated. The PS3 has never really been over rated. Since day one people have generally rated it pretty low and based on that $600 price tag to start with it probably deserved it's low rating. and now it's rating has come up but it has become a more worthwhile machine since then.. somehow.. in spite of Sony's removing features (oh yeah firmware updates are a great idea for gaming.. fantastic). Sure it's more highly rated than it was at the start but "over" rated? I think you're taking the esteem of the PS3 way too high. I still don't think most people rate the PS3 better than the Xbox. The XMB hasn't changed much maybe but aside from removing stuff like PS Store links and the "Video App" section that I don't use I don't have a problem with the XMB.
As far as your direct suggestions? What are "apps" and "live tv" supposed to mean? I'm not being sarcastic I really don't understand what sort of apps you would want on a PS3? Do people really want to to use Twitter and Facebook on their PS3? I don't have a smart phone and even I don't want that. and I'm confused by "live TV" if I want to watch "live TV" why wouldn't i just push the input button on my TV and .. actually watch "live TV"? that has to mean something other than what I think it means. What exactly are these "free media platforms" that we should be able to access? Hulu? Netflix? cause we got those. YouTube? there's a browser and if you want more than that for YouTube you're being an idiot. They put all kinda of random video services on the PSN that honestly I don't care about not sure what on earth they could be missing.
Sure @Home is lame but even Sony is only half advertising that anymore. Noone is saying the PS3 is great because of @Home.
The PS3's biggest and IMO only real failing is in the online dept and honestly (me personally) i'm ok with it. I'm still not sure I understand multigame voice chat or whatever it's called and while it sucks balls that the website isn't working and even when it was you couldn't do stuff like push downloads to my console but I don't mind doing them manually and saving myself $50 a year that's like 4-6 games for me. I buy cheap man.
