Is anyone going to get the Nintendo 3DS when it releases in March ?
I am starting to get interested and am thinking about pre-ordering it. The concept seems cool and it seems like they will have a strong game line-up.
I'm on the fence. The 3D effects I'll probably turn off or ignore. Not really into all that. But I've been worried lately. There were rumors of friendslists and achievements…but now I'm hearing they are game by game scenarios. Then at CES it was announced that they went from 96megs of RAM to 64. So I'm playing the wait and see game.
Not at launch. I've got about 100 games in my backlog right now (half retail, half digital) that need to be taken care of first and I won't be buying a system that I want but won't be able to dedicate enough time for. I'll wait until december 2011 when more games are available and I have, hopefully, worked my way through several of my games.
@Eddie: Any links to the rumored scale back in RAM?
Its not so much that it was scaled back…the original memore was a rumor which turns out to be incorrect by that dude that smuggled a 3DS off of the assembly line. But 64mb is a little low.
Also…only has 1.5gb of built in flash memory…..which is NOTHING. Even the PSP Go had 16 gigs.
I actually think the built in memory is good, even if it is only 1.5GB. plus games aren't going to be that big and I'm sure that will be able to fit lots of photos etc. The games that I've seen so far look really good. sure it could be more powerful (like I'm sure the PSP2 will be) but that comes with a price. :D

3DS looks better then the PSP right? PSP games average about 500 megs. Not only that, due to the 3D effect, many things need to be rendered twice therefore making it larger. They already said the games will be printed on 8 gig cards but Nintendo is issues a mandatory "less then 2 gigs" order to developers. So I expect to see 1-2 gig games.
as far as "comes with a price"…..the 3DS was priced at $300 in Canada which means in the states, we are also looking at $300 since there really isn't a change between North America and Canada for electronics.
that's a good point actually, hopefully DSware games are significantly smaller and other applications. still looking forward to it, I just hope it isn't too expensive, there is already many games coming out this year that I want.
@Eddie: You're thinking about getting retail games on a PSN by PSN and that increases size. Think more about how PSN games can be anywhere from 50 MB to 1 GB and scale that back for a portable. My guess is that size limit for 3DSware games will be set at 150-200 MB at most by Nintendo. Look at what they can do with 40 MB on Wiiware (Jett Rocket is the best example) so even doubling that would do wonders with the smaller screens:
Yep, this is only 40 MB.
