You're getting Metroid Fusion, Warioware and Mario vs DK on the GBA! And we still need to find out what the other 5 NES and 5 GBA will be. Mmm, should I get one on the holidays for $170 or one now for $250 with $150 worth of content?

If you're going to get one....wait for a few days before the price change...buy it from Best Buy...get your free games...return to best buy and say you want your discount due to a price drop within a week of your purchase and tada....get the best of both worlds.

but that $150 worth of content is really worth like 50 cents....or free....freaking 10-20 year old games lol...why not add some colecovision or atari 2600 games to it?

im sure some 3DS hits right now will drop in price tremendously, either offficially or through eBay/Amazon/Craiglist. I think its better to hold on, its not like we run out of games to play on PS3/PSP

now that the price has dropped, i'm definitely more interested in wanting to pick one up.  But now the problem I think lies with the game library. It's neat that they are giving old classic games to early adopters.  Least it better than nothing =]

3DS still has a long road ahead of it. It needs to differentiate itself from the DS. the average consumer just believes its another iteration of the DS. I mean we have had the fat, lite, DSi, XL and so on so I can see the confusion.

It's library is its biggest problem right now. Sure over time that will be fixed but it really has nothing worthwhile yet.

Their stocks crashed due to this announcment. Dropped 20% to a 6 year low.

I can only play zelda and metroid so many times lol this is where the tech is going though so I can see people buying now just for the smaller older games. A recent study showed that more people would buy a game they wouldnt even like if the unlock able was an older game like excitebike. Sad but true.

Right now if I owned a 3DS I'd get Pilotwings, Ocarina of Time, RAbbids Travel in Time, Ghost Recon Shadow Wars, Steel Diver and $40 in eShop credit. Looking forward to Layton, Lautrec, Cave Story, Devil Survivor Overclocked and Stafox 64 3D in the short term. While I get my 3DS I'll play my DS library (currently on FF IV and then I'll do Dragon Quest IV).

I tried it last week at the mall and wow, was I NOT impressed.

Zelda looks great and all, but I've finished it so many times on the N64 (which I still have) I really don't think I'll get this.

I'm much more interested in the Wii U.

Try a game you haven't played ye. SFIV looks VERY GOOD on it as does RE: Mercenaries (more interesting demo for actual single player game included!) or even Pilotwings which really makes great use of the 3D.

SFIV is good but its like fighting game on easy. All the moves are on the touch screen and you just tap them.

RE: Mercs has a single game save that you can't erase. Horrible idea...

Pilotwings is a 2 hour long game.

@Eddie: From what I've heard from friends everyone is playing Pilotwings wrong. It's not a race to the finish line, it's a "can you get all the medals for each course" type of game which means it can take you 10+ hours at least.

So its like sonic where the goal is to get all the rings...not kill Dr. Robotnik....thats even worse than it just being 2 hours long.

Hahaha, it's a racing game! You're trying to lower your time, get all medals, etc. It will be the first game I purchase when I get my system.

so it's a racing game you have to take your time with? lol

The game itself is nice. Its premise is dumb. It needs to evolve a little bit.

I've played it for an hour and had fun with it. Enough fun as to purchase the game new. And the coins I'll get from it are a nice bonus as well.

As an aside, just to give you an idea of how important Nintendo gaming is in our family: My brother, my sister and I have gotten Platinum status (600 coins which was obtained at 50 coins per Wii game and 30 coins per DS game along with an extra 10 coins for the post play survey of said registered games) two years in a row and this year I was even able to get Platinum status for my godson's account. For the 2011-2012 year it will be 3DS and DS purchases that will get us there. The figurine for last year was awesome and the pins for this year look great as well.

Oh, and I totally got Ultimate member status at the Square Enix Rewards Program so I supports my PSP/PS3 as well!

Japan Survey

-1/3 of 3DS owners felt ange or regret about their purchase
-49% said the software is not adequate and felt disappointed
-45.7% said they have no plans or are on the fence about buying games like Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart
-5.4% said they plan to buy a 3DS after the price drops.
-65.2% were probably planning on buying the Playstation Vita.

Well, we don't know how many participated in the survey. Could be 100, could be 1,000. Makes a huuuuge difference. Anyway, let's wait for the August-September worldwide 3DS sales before the doom and gloom train makes a stop.

Also, know what's great about the 3DS price cut? Nintendo will probably price the Wii U at $299 instead of $399 and take a loss on a console (for the first time ever) to price it near the 360/PS3 and try and get a huge lead for the next gen round since they've already won this one.
